Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator returns with a new expansion, Delivery Driver. Published by Nacon and developed by Simteract, Taxi Life originally drove into our libraries March 2024. Almost a year into the journey, we now welcome the first expansion. Available on all platforms, this expansion pack will cost you between £7.99 – £8.50 depending on platform.
Beep, beep!

Gameplay
The Delivery Driver DLC offers new timed missions, whereby the player needs to deliver packages. To start these missions, you can drive to one of the new warehouse icons highlighted on the map. There you will be faced with a showcasing of different deliveries. These missions will all be different, with varying distances and difficulties.
You can choose which delivery you take. However, you must make sure to monitor the state of your packages throughout your journey. Otherwise, this may affect your final score. Besides the basic fare, you will also gain bonuses. Including extra money and XP. This will be dependent on the condition of the packages and the time saved.

In addition to this, there is the introduction of a new vehicle. This vehicle is named “The Victoris”, and it has a pretty cool backstory. This vehicle is named after one of the 3D artists, “Victor”. I think this is such a cool addition, showing their love for the team.
The type of vehicle used in deliveries dictates how many packages you can collect. An example of this is that “The Victoris” can hold up to 8 packages. While some vehicles will hold less. Therefore, it is important to choose which vehicle to use wisely.
No more rage!
In addition to these new features, there have also been some adjustments to the game. The team have listened to their community and has made some fixes. If you read my first article, you will know that one of my frustrations with the game was pedestrians. It seemed like they had a death wish. Constantly walking into your path regardless of it being a green light for traffic. The pedestrian spawn rate slider lets you decide how many jaywalkers you want to deal with. Whilst also introducing tweaks that means that there are fewer suicidal pedestrians.
Graphics & Audio

As I stated in my original review, one of the things I enjoy the most is how beautiful Barcelona looks in the game. Roaming the city is rewarding, with how bright and vibrant it portrays the city. Regarding additions, there are some small new ones.
A new graphical addition is short cut scenes. These now pop up when you deliver the parcels. Each cut scene shows your player leaving the car, before bringing out the package to deliver. I really enjoyed this seemingly small addition as it adds realism to the game. And we all love a bit of realism in our simulation games.
Longevity
I previously questioned the replayability of Taxi Life. This was due to the fact I could see it very easily becoming mundane just collecting and dropping passengers off. However, I do believe that the addition of the Delivery Driver DLC does offer a freshness to the game.
Final Thoughts
Whilst I haven’t played Taxi Life in a while, this DLC has definitely drawn me back in. It was fun to be driving around again, only with an extra layer of mission, not just drive from A to B as fast as I could. Honestly, the fact that they have fixed the pedestrian issue was reason enough to give this DLC a higher award then the base game. However, the Delivery Driver DLC deserves recognition in it’s own right.
