No Place Like Home Review

No Place Like Home is a single-player 3rd person PC indie title from devs Chicken Launcher and published by Realms Distribution. With Earth trashed (literally) and humanity moved onto Mars, it is down to you to begin the clean-up operation. No Place Like Home - Tranquil Farming Fun I really wasn't sure what to expect with this survival sim title in all honesty, let's crack on! Be sure to check out my previous Thumb Culture reviews here! Gameplay In a nutshell, No Place Like Home is all about exploration, crafting, cleaning up and tending to the land around you. Playing as Ellen, you have inherited a  farm, or what is left of it, from your grandfather. With piles of trash and muck-like stone columns all around you, you must use your trusty drill and vacuum to demolish and suck up...

The Sims 4: Carnaval Streetwear Kit Review

The Sims 4 recently had a new dlc drop in the form of the Brazillian-inspired Carnaval Streetwear Kit. At £4.99, is this kit a must-have for the hardcore players? Dance Like Nobody's Watching! With the word "Carnaval" playing havoc with my spellchecker as it is Portuguese for "Carnival", let's see what this is all about! Gameplay The Carnaval Streetwear kit has been designed in partnership with Brazilian drag queen and singer-songwriter Pabllo Vittar. Together they have drawn up a wardrobe of clothing and accessories to celebrate the vibrancy of Brazil's iconic Carnaval. With a vivid array of multicoloured neon shirts, tees, crop tops and dresses both for men and women, Pabllo has brought their ideas to life. With a majority of the Sims dlc's, your people can only wear th...

Not Tonight 2 Review

Not Tonight 2 is a narrative-driven document checking game from developer PanicBarn and publisher No More Robots. The game is a sequel to 2018s Not Tonight and was released on the 11th of February on Steam. The trailer immediately piqued my interest with its excellent pixel art mixed with oppressive dystopian themes. Can Eduardo's friends break him out of a Miami detention centre? Find out below in my Not Tonight 2 review. If you're not on the list, you aren't coming in! We start the game during a protest in Seattle. Suddenly a van draws up to the protesters and bundles one of them inside. This poor unfortunate is Eduardo, who ends up all the way across the country in a Miami detention centre. Fortunately, Eduardo has three loyal friends, Malik, Kevin and Mari, who embark on three separa...

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is the latest instalment in the Atelier franchise. It continues the trend of single-player RPGs in a somewhat open-world akin to late 1700s or early 1800s Europe. It was developed and published by Koei Tecmo who have been part of the series since it began on the PS1 in 1997. I was excited to play the game after having enjoyed the Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Pack. If you are a fan of the series then I have no doubt you will too. And if you are interested, you can read my review here of the original Atelier Mysterious Trilogy here. The Adventure Continues! Atelier Sophie 2 is available on February 25th on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4 & PS5. The TC team and I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on Atelier Sophie 2. So d...

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante Review

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is the debut game from developer Sever Studio while working with publisher 101XP. You play as the titular character in this single-player narrative-driven RPG. The game takes place in the fantasy fictional world of Magra, part of the Arknian Empire. The setting is akin to Victorian London with class issues, religion and even persecution of magic users being major driving forces of the story. Set out on a challenging lifetime journey, where every choice entails consequences. Each decision determines the path you go down so choose wisely. Sir Brante was released on PC last year but is available now on PlayStation & Xbox consoles with my review based on the PS5 version. And if you want to read more on the game, check out Gareth discussing news on it...

Lacuna Review

Let's cut right to the chase. Lacuna on PS4/PS5 is glorious. This sci-fi noir adventure feels like a spiritual successor to Police Quest, one of my favourite Sierra Games series from the late 80's/early 90's. It builds on the tropes of the genre, pairs it with excellent writing and establishes its own spin on the point and click adventure.  Lacuna - Point The Finger Tiny German developer DigiTales Interactive released Lacuna on PC back in May 2021 and this much anticipated console release is published by Assemble Entertainment. Available on Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, this indie title comes in at 2GB install size on PS4. If you enjoy this review be sure to check out our other Playstation game reviews Gameplay Playing as CDI agent Neil Conrad, the adventure centres ar...

The Handler of Dragons Preview

The Handler of Dragons is a 3D RPG game developed by Jerzy Calinski and published by Golden Eggs Studio. Currently in early access on steam, The Handler of Dragons will have to compete with the likes of Elder Scrolls and Dark Souls. Quantity Over Quality, Right? With titles such as Broken Blades, Magnus Failure, Thoefil and Ignatius all released within the last 2 years, Jerzy is pumping out games left right and centre. As these games currently have under 10 reviews each, could this title be the one to really catapult Jerzy into the limelight? Join me as I explore The Handler of Dragons and attempt to answer that very question. Gameplay Although linear structured, this RPG allows the player to make decisions that impact the world around them. For example, the dialogue system offers play...

Rune Factory 4 Special Review

Developed by Marvelous Inc and published by Marvelous Inc and XSEED Games. Rune Factory 4 Special is a slightly updated version of Rune Factory 4 that was released on the Nintendo 3DS in July 2012. Rune Factory 4 Special was released on the 7th of December 2021. It was released on the Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox One Series S/X, and PC. Rune Factory 4 Special - The Old One's Are The Best When I saw that this absolutely brilliant JRPG was getting a console release and it was adding some new content. I just had to have it. There are many games that have fallen under the same category. Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, and Stardew Valley just to name a few but I always had a fondness for the Rune Factory series. So if you enjoy this review then why not check out my prev...
