Payday 3 – PS5 Review

Payday 3 is the latest coop heist-based FPS and much-anticipated follow-up from Payday 2 (2013). After 10+ years of Payday 2 content and almost going bankrupt Starbreeze finally has brought us Payday 3, was it worth the wait? Payday 3 is available now on PS5, The Xbox Series consoles and PC. A safe with a few cracks. I’m incredibly happy to see Starbreeze pull through and deliver us a third instalment in the payday franchise. Payday 3, unfortunately, has the burden of surpassing its predecessor which boasts over ten years of support. Even with these odds, does Payday 3 manage to steal the show? Gameplay The gameplay in Payday 3 is absolutely what most people will be interested in, and I can confirm, that the game delivers. It has massively evolved from Payday 2 and on most fronts, ...

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition – PC Review

Probably one of the most anticipated games of the year for me. Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, by devs Nightdive Studios and Apogee Software, is an insane first-person shooter that was first released back in 1994 for the PC. I'm a Freight Train O' Death The reason that I got excited at this remastered 4K version was not only for all of the included content, but for the nostalgia that it was hopefully going to bring back to me. Back in the 90's my PC could just about run Rise of the Triad using MS-DOS. Furthermore, I had fond memories of my father playing it constantly due to the multiple weapons, gore and intricate puzzle-solving level design. You have to remember that back then, these kinds of games were still groundbreaking. The market for 3D shooters was on the rise followin...

My Friendly Neighborhood – PC Review

My Friendly Neighborhood was developed by John & Evan Szymanski and published with the help of Dreadxp. Begin investigating an abandoned film that has begun broadcasting again in this new survival horror. Released on the 18th of July this year, players can pick it up on Steam for £24.99. There's a lesson here What caught my eye with My Friendly Neighborhood is it looked fresh and unique compared to many other horror games. Yeah. I understand that fighting against undead creatures or grotesque science experiments is scary. But it's nice to see some developers trying to make cute things into more dark and twisted variants. Some examples that come to mind are Bendy And The Ink Machine and, more recently, Poppy's Playtime. Unlike the other games mentioned, My Friendly Neighborhood isn't ...

Amnesia: The Bunker – PC Review

I hope none of you has forgotten about Frictional Games because they've brought us Amnesia: The Bunker. This new addition to the Amnesia franchise will have players explore a World War 1 bunker. Using nothing but your wit and whatever resource you can find to survive. If you're interested in this new horror experience, It's out now to pick up on PlayStation, Steam, or Xbox Store for £20.99. Forgetting doesn't change the consequences Amnesia: The Bunker piqued my interest as it brings the new addition of fighting against whatever lurks in the darkness. I played the first instalment, called Amnesia: The Dark Descent and enjoyed the fact that players could interact with various parts of the surroundings like barrels, crates and candelabras. I also enjoyed one of Frictional Games' other seri...

Starship Troopers: Extermination – PC Preview

I'm happy to check out Starship Troopers: Extermination, a new co-op online FPS with base-building mechanics. It was developed and published by Offworld Industries. They're the ones who brought you Squad, another online shooter that was released back in September 2020. Starship Troopers was released for early access on Steam this May for £20.99. The only good bug is a dead bug! Like many others, I grew up with the 1997 Starship Trooper Film and prayed for a game based on it. Offworld Industries must have heard me because now I get to fight off mass hordes of bugs. Who doesn't love taking on hordes of enemies in hopes of saving humanity, I sure do, and that's why "I'm doing my part!". Gameplay Starship Troopers: Extermination holds up to sixteen players per match, and each person ca...

Supplice – PC Early Access Preview

Supplice is a retro style FPS now available in Early Access. In development by Mekworx with publishing by Hyperstrange (Jupiter Hell, Frozenheim), this throwback to the mid 1990's is heavily inspired by Doom and its mod community. You can pick it up today only on Steam. Supplice Throws Doom Into the Modern Day There have been many games like Doom since it debuted 30 years ago. From the original Quake and Rise of the Triad to modern entries like Dusk and ULTRAKILL to name a few. Though Doom probably wasn't my first PC game I'm sure it may have been for a lot of 90's kids. And despite the number of similar games I've seen over the years, Supplice is one that stood out to me. I'm glad to have the opportunity to play it and share the experience with you. Let me know which 90's FPS was your f...

Postal 4: No Regerts – PS5 Review

From the Developers at Running with Scissors that brought amazing titles such as Postal, Postal 2, and so on comes the latest in this epic franchise: Postal 4: No Regerts. With all the crude humour and hilarious one-liners that Postal fans know, remember, and expect from this series. Postal 4: No Regerts goes on to meet these expectations and somehow keeps the momentum going.   There has always been controversy to this game franchise purely from the satirical and crass humour. For example, Postal 2 was banned in Germany and New Zealand for the sheer amount of violence and animal "abuse". Postal 4: No Regerts, yes that's how it's spelt Are you a long-time Postal fan? Have you been looking forward to Postal 4: No Regerts on consoles? let us know in the comments below! Gamep...

Destiny 2: Lightfall is an action shooter that takes place from a first-person perspective. Lightfall launched on 28th February on Xbox. PlayStation and PC. With Cross-Save it is possible to access your character in any format (although you will need the expansion for each format) Eyes Up Guardian A week has gone by since the launch of Lightfall. I wanted to leave a week to complete the campaign and have my own views, as there are lots of thoughts going around the community right now. With over 3300 hours of play in Destiny, It is safe to say I have seen a lot of changes since it launched in 2014. I have been extremely excited to see the launch of LightFall which marks Destiny 2's 6th year. Gameplay Destiny 2 is a first person action shooter, that has taken us on a tour of the sola...

Marauders – PC Preview

Under development by Small Impact Games and published by Team17, Marauders is a tactical FPS multiplayer "looter shooter" set in space. Now in early access, Marauders is accessible via Steam. There is no official date yet for when this title will leave early access. Hopefully it doesn't stay in early access for years, which seems to be the latest trend in PC gaming. Small Impact Games? Small Impact Games - aka 'SIG' were unknown to me when I picked up this review, so I did a bit of research... Turns out that SIG have some serious experience in working on AAA titles, though it appears to mainly be third party projects, as I couldn't find an original title. Could Marauders see SIG burst onto the scene? Story Marauders features a pretty unique backstory, which is a welcome addition amongs...
