Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree PS5 Review

Review bombs, patches, and 5 million concurrent players - From Software has outdone themselves with the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Introducing new NPCs, unique bosses and expanding lore surrounding Miquella, Shadow of the Erdtree raises the standards yet again. With 80 new boss fights (11 of which are remembrance bosses), over 100 new weapons and 11 new NPCs, Shadow of the Erdtree can be viewed as a standalone game on its own and is definitely worth the £35 price point. Before you read this, yes I used my mimic, yes I ended up using a bleed build. No I don’t want to hear about it, let me be bad at the game okay? Spoilers ahead for the entirety of the DLC !!!! Gameplay As with any From Software DLC, the Shadow of the Erdtree is locked behind two bosses. Players mu...

Drova – Forsaken Kin – PC Preview

Drova - Forsaken Kin is an upcoming single-player, action-RPG adventure from game developers Just2d. It's a souls-like action game with mysticism and grim undertones from Celtic mythology. Drova was first teased three years ago and is still being developed. It is set to be released sometime this year on PC. We were invited to take a close look at the game before release. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to go on a deep dive into the lands of Drova. A Pixel RPG Game With Tonnes Of Soul Do you like a challenge and love the souls-like genre? Is it not easy for you to buckle under the relentless weight of all the attacks thrown at you?? Following getting a good beating while playing Dark Souls & Elden Ring I've decided it's not the genre for me. Let me know what your favourite game in t...

No Rest for the Wicked – PC Preview

No Rest for the Wicked is a new Action RPG, Souls-like crossover. It is in development by Moon Studios (Ori and the Blind Forest, Ori and the Will of the Wisps) with publishing by Private Division (Kerbal Space Program, The Outer Worlds). It became available in Early Access in mid-April on Steam. The full release version will be available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It has the Souls-like tag for a reason! Moon Studios is already known for visually stunning and atmospheric games. Though I personally have never played either Ori game, it is on my ever-growing list of games to play when given the chance. No Rest for the Wicked appears to be just as eye-catching and immersive as the Ori series. Do previous games from the same developer ever draw you to a new IP? For me it was ...

Glory Hunters – GameBoy Review

There is a burgeoning development scene right now for new games for retro systems. The GameBoy is such a beloved piece of gaming hardware and there is a slew of new games in the works for the Nintendo handheld. One such game is Action Adventure RPG Glory Hunters from indie studio 2think. The game was one of over 20 indie games we featured in our Indie Game Stage 2023 showcase and we have been eagerly anticipating its release. Pain is temporary, Glory is Eternal - Glory Hunters The Mexican developer previously released the Punch-Out inspired Pato Box on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PSVita and PC. Biomutant – Switch Review

Three years after its initial release, Biomutant has finally made its way to the Nintendo Switch! Marketed as an open post-apocalyptic RPG, Experiment 101's 2021 introduces new players and makes a call out to old fans as an invitation to restore the Tree of Life and rid the land of World Enders. As a game plagued with mixed reviews, I have never picked up Biomutant. With the new Switch release I thought it was finally time to see whether it lived up to the hype or played down to the critics. Saving the world from one World Ender at a time... Gameplay On the surface, Biomutant is an RPG with a very simplistic plot and a black and white choice system. Unlike games like Life is Strange or any release from Quantic Dream, deciding whether you side with 'light' or 'dark' doesn't feel lik...

Destiny 2 Update – Onslaught and Pantheon

Guardian Onslaughts I have been playing the new game mode Onslaught in Destiny 2 and boy do I have a lot to say about this game mode. I truly believe this game mode is a godsend to help bring life into the game. A well-placed tower defense that has us fight either a group of Fallen or Hive that I have to say...are downright evil! Especially the Hive with their Wizards, Shriekers and Ogres can all go suck on lemons for their broken ways. But, I'll talk more about this later and talk about the game mode a bit more. There are a lot of things that people figure out when dealing with the game mode, especially with the batteries. The batteries have more use than to help recharge the shield for the ADU. You can repair the defense you have. That being the decoys, turrets and the trip mines. Th...

Outcast: A New Beginning is a new 3rd-person, open world adventure sequel to the original Outcast from 1999. Developed by Appeal Studios (Outcast – Second Contact, Gangs of Sherwood) with publishing by THQ Nordic (a lot of games), the game returns Cutter Slade to the world of Adelpha to defend the Talans from an invading force. Launched on March 15th 2024, the game is available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Original Developers, Original Feels? There's usually something special about original developers returning to the setting of one of their original games. And I don't mean just to do an expansion or DLC or direct sequel to a game within a few years of the first. In this case, it's been well over 20 years since the first Outcast game hit the market. Can ...

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor – PC Preview

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is a new bullet-hell roguelite available in Early Access. It is being developed by Funday Games (Don't Die In The West) with publishing by Ghost Ship Publishing (Spellrogue, Deep Rock Galactic [technically Coffee Stain Publishing]). It is currently available for PC via Steam and there is no indication that it will be available on other platforms. It's Like a Love Letter to Rock and Stone I don't know about you, but I love Deep Rock Galactic. Overall it has a simple concept, is easy to dive into, and is a hell lot of fun playing with friends. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend doing so. As a fan of DRG, I couldn't overlook when the Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor demo hit Steam a while back. I was itching to get my hands on it for more and here we ...
