Deadhaus Sonata – PC Early Access

Deadhaus Sonata is a new title from someone who worked on Legacy of Kain and Too Human. In this game we will be assuming a role of an undead vampire that will bring terror and fear to the world. The game is now out and begins its early access life on Steam for just £16.75. I personally haven't played any of his previous work, so I won't know if there are any nods to his other games. But maybe check out our reviews for some of the Legacy of Kain releases. Bring terror to a new land. Gameplay Deadhaus Sonata, throws you into the tutorial after a small screen of dialogue. There is not much in the way of story-telling from what I could see, rather most information is placed in lore stones. These are green obelisks found in the world and the hub. In the hub I could do a couple of things; e...

ICARUS: Console Edition – PS5 Review

ICARUS: Console Edition is now available on Xbox X|S and PlayStation 5. The console port of the popular PC survival game, originally developed by RocketWerkz, has been in development by Grip Studios. Though the PC version has been around since December of 2021, this version just became available at the end of March this year. It contains all the crafting, survival, and challenges that the game is well known for. Perhaps ICARUS is too close to the sun on Console... It's nice when developers keep multiple platforms in mind during early game design. This generally makes for a better consistency, but of course there are always some games that play better on console than their computer counterparts. Knowing how long ICARUS has been around on PC, I was curious to check how it translates over t...

Starfield – PS5 Review

As an avid space lover and someone who was relentlessly checking in daily on the Artemis 2 mission, Starfield on the PS5 surely did launch at the perfect time for me to return to. Houston We Have A Problem I first rocketed myself (no more space puns now, I promise) into the world of Starfield back in 2023, and sadly, it’s hard to say right now that the PS5 port has successfully stuck the landing. It looks gorgeous, sure, and playing on a PS5 Pro means you can max out the frame rate, but even with all of this at my disposal and decent-sized patches from Bethesda themselves, I still found Starfield quite tedious to play through as a result of frequent frame drops and game crashes.  If you’ve not yet played Starfield, it’s very much like most Bethesda titles. You’re the chosen one, you s...

Don’t Lose Aggro – PC Early Access Preview

Don't Lose Aggro is an action roguelite where you are the tank. Oren Koren, the developer, has taken the role and created a roguelite game loop around doing just that. It will be available in Early Access only on Steam. Tanking Can Be Slow... I bet you didn't expect me to be writing about another roguelike game, did you? Oh wait... yeah you probably aren't surprised. I'm not either at this point and I enjoy seeing the different flavors that are out there. Check out my thoughts on the early access build of Don't Lose Aggro below. Gameplay The "holy trinity" of player roles, damage-per-second (DPS), healer and tank, are commonly found in multiplayer games. Don't Lose Aggro extracts the tank role and puts it into a solo player experience where your task remains the same - get your par...

Dragonkin: The Banished – PS5 Review

The Action RPG genre can be a tough one to break into. With series such as Diablo, Path of Exile, and the plethora of Warhammer ARPGs, to name but a few. The incredibly addictive nature of grinding, dungeon-delving, and loot-hoarding is one I've been a fan of for a long time. With Dragonkin: The Banished leaving Early Access and releasing on consoles, I knew I had to play it! Created by developer Eko Software (who know a thing or two about ARPGs!), Dragonkin has just launched its 1.0 version. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is priced at £34.99 on consoles and £20.99 on Steam. All You Need Is Loot I'll admit it. I'm one of those gamers that, when they really get into a game, it's the only thing on their mind until the credits roll. With ARPGs, t...

Crimson Desert – PS5 Review

Back last year I was lucky enough to check out a preview for Crimson Desert. Now, I Finally get to review the finished product. So just like many, I will be exploring the vast world that is Pywel. Thanks to the team at Pearl Abyss, for creating this large open-world RPG. The game is available on Steam, but for now, I am checking the PS5 version. Which goes for £54.99, with a Deluxe Edition priced at £64.99. That will also net you some additional armour pieces. Welcome to Pywel Gameplay Players don't level up traditionally but can improve their characters through gear and a skill tree. To improve skills in the tree, you can collect, find, and earn Artefacts through-out the world. The best way I managed is by killing a load of bandits. This too works well for also earning money. Althoug...

God of War: Sons of Sparta – PS5 Review

Announced and shadow drop released at the end of PlayStation's State of Play livestream back on February 12th 2026, and to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise, God of War: Sons of Sparta is a  2D Metroid Vania-inspired side-scroller and prequel to the famous God of War himself, Kratos. Zeus! Your son has returned! (With his younger brother) Story - A tale of two Brothers Sons of Sparta tells a fun prequel story of Kratos as a young adolescent boy, joined by his younger brother Deimos, who previously featured in the PSP spin-off game, Ghost of Sparta. The game’s narrative is framed as a story being told by Kratos to his young daughter, Calliope. The original Kratos voice actor, TC Carson, is reprising his role as the game’s narrator. The story is fun and simple. Fo...

Under The Island – PS5 Review

If you're a gamer of a certain vintage, chances are you have fond memories of the '90s and early 2000s. From Alundra to the 2D Zelda titles, there were plenty of brilliant action RPGs during that era. With Under The Island, developer Slime King Games attempts to capture the magic that made these classics so memorable. Blending elements of modern and retro (are we calling the '90s retro now? I feel old...) games, Under The Island may well be a great debut for the developer. Can the gameplay match what is arguably a gorgeous-looking love letter to games gone by? Under The Island is out now, and is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. With that said, let's get on with the review! Above, Around, and Under The Island! With...

Styx: Blades of Greed – PS5 Review

Styx: Blades of Greed is a third-person stealth-action RPG adventure developed by Cyanide Studio and published by Nacon. The game is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, starting February 19th. Weaponized Goblin Mode In this third entry of the franchise, players return as Styx, a cunning goblin thief with a particular set of skills, including silently infiltrating castles, eluding enemies' sight, and executing hushed assassinations in a smart mix of stealth and strategy. Styx first appeared as the smaller half of a smash-and-stealth duo in Of Orcs and Men (2012). He was obviously the stealth portion of that tag team. Since then, the little green gobbo has continued his mischievous adventures by himself in Styx: Master of Shadows (2014) and Styx: Shards of Darkness (2017). No...

Crimson Capes – PC Review

Crimson Capes is a pixel-art 2.5 D roguelike / roguelite developed and published by Poor Locke. The game is set in a dark-fantasy medieval Europe, where you can switch between four characters of the witch-hunting Crimson Capes guild. Retro Bloody Retro In recent years, the indie game industry has been flooded with roguelites, roguelikes, and metroidvania style games. Crimson Capes enters this crowded landscape with a realistic swordcombat "flow" that may be challenging at first but is highly satisfactory once mastered. This combat system relies strongly on the well-known formula of souls and soulslike games, patience, dodging, and precise timing. The story is centered around the adventures of Milon, also known as the Tempest, who has been ordered by the king to take down a conspir...
