In long awaited news, Nintendo have today unveiled the first look at their new console; the Switch 2. This console has been confirmed to be the successor to the Nintendo Switch, and will release in 2025. As yet no other release date information has been confirmed.

Without further ado

I’m not going to sit here and list out everything you can see in the unveiling video, because let’s face it, that’s not what you want from this article! Don’t skip past the rest of this piece though, unless you don’t want to find out when you can try out the new console for yourself. Enough of my wittering here is what you really came here for.

Hands On

After that little teaser. I for one can’t wait for more details about the Nintendo Switch 2. Being the Nintendo fan that I am, I have already set myself a calendar reminder for the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct too! Which just in case you missed it, is on Wednesday 2nd April. That’s not all though as following on from the Switch 2 focused Nintendo Direct, the console will be going on a little tour. Meaning doting fans can experience the new console for themselves ahead of release.

Good News Backlog

The backwards compatibility confirmation  is very welcome news indeed. I can’t be the only one who still has a backlog of must play Switch games! Whilst not all games may be guaranteed, backwards compatibility is always a feature appreciated with console fans. Nothing worse than your favourite game not being playable on your new console. And with many of us struggling due to the cost of living rising, it’s not like everyone has a choice to be able to keep every console either.
