Do you remember that time when I said that it would be great if Double Jack released a John Williams DLC for Maestro? I mentioned it in the Doom Bound DLC article. Well, fast-forward a couple of months and as if by magic, we now have a Maestro Star Wars Duel of the Fates DLC. Granted it’s only one track, but boy oh boy was I excited to play.

Feel The Force

If you haven’t read my first article about Maestro, then go and check it out here. Now, I’ll be entirely honest with you, this DLC got the Platinum Award. I know I should really have made you wait till the end. It’s Star Wars, though, and anyone who knows me knows I have an incredibly large soft spot for Star Wars.

Gameplay

The Maestro Star Wars Duel of the Fates DLC may only contain one track, Duel of the Fates by John Williams, but it’s one of the most iconic Star Wars music tracks ever, alongside the Imperial March and the Main Theme. This is the same orchestral score that plays during the final lightsaber duel between Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Darth Maul. While it doesn’t necessarily end well for Maul, this can end magnificently for you.

The DLC also features a few new cosmetics as well, including a nice set of new gloves, a new background, and outfits for your orchestra. There’s even a mini lightsaber that activates when you hold it. It switches between a red and a blue lightsaber, pertaining to both the light and the dark side of the Force.

Pick a side, light or dark.

Playing through the track itself was an absolute joy. Honestly, I always have such a smile on my face when I’m using the hand tracking with this game. However, there’s something about the Maestro Star Wars Duel of the Fates DLC that just amplified that expression. It is such a shame that there weren’t more tracks included in this pack. Regardless, I will take great pleasure in repeating this pack over and over.

Another magnificent performance.

Final Thoughts

I know that I haven’t covered the usual sections, but hopefully the images I’ve included will give you a bit of an indication of how it looks. Plus, with it only being one track, the longevity is really down to the player. How about I make it up to you with a photo of me actually playing this DLC, so you can see what you’ll look like enjoying this incredible music pack.

You too can look this good being a conductor in VR!

Thankfully, this pack brings something extra to the mix, an iconic addition to an already stellar line up. Now it’s only a matter of time before another DLC pack releases, but what can it be next time? Shall we see if we still have the power of prediction? For the next one, let’s go for a Jurassic Park-themed one, to go along with the recently released movie.

The Maestro Star Wars Duel of the Fates DLC gets the Thumb Culture Platinum Award.

  1. Great review! I’m really glad you’re reviewing the DLCs for Maestro as I imagine there are going to be a lot more of these coming out soon. All of the ones I’ve played so far have been really good and I love the mini lightsabre too.
