If you’re a LEGO and Star Wars fan then you’ve probably spent some time drooling over the Ultimate Collector Series. It’s the pinnacle of detail within the Star Wars LEGO space, but these big collector pieces come with big price tags too. It doesn’t stop me staring at them every time I’m in a LEGO store though. Which is as frequently as you may imagine. And so when Thumb Culture got the opportunity to get hands on with the newest addition, the LEGO Star Wars Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship I yelled “Yes” faster than Boba shouted “Dad watch out!”.

I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe

This is not a set for casual builders. At 2970 pieces and priced at £260 on the LEGO website, this is a collection piece. Which you probably guessed by the fact it is part of the Ultimate Collector Series too. But even for a collector is this a set worth saving the bounty? Let’s check it out.

The Build

I’m saving a lot of my thoughts about this set for my summary section, so let’s keep this bit matter of fact. The LEGO Star Wars Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship is built with Star Wars fans in mind. The cockpit has a canopy that can be opened to reveal a quite detailed interior very faithful to the ship’s appearance in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. You can push open the main entrance to reveal the seismic charge compartment. And of course the blaster cannons are aimable! Meaning you can customise your display just that little bit more.

Of course what LEGO Star Wars Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship would be complete without Jango Fett and a young Boba Fett? Well, it wouldn’t. This set contains these two icons in new redesigned minifigure forms. Even better you can seat them in the removable section of the cockpit. Let’s take a look at this set in it’s full built state.

Final Thoughts

I have always loved this ship and Boba Fett is one of my favourite characters in the Star Wars universe. I’m even typing this review sat on my HERO Boba Fett chair. But this has not been my favourite build. Not even close. I actually found it a set that I was just trying to get through for the end product.

There is no doubt the fully built Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship looks incredible. The movable main entrance, adjustable blasters and seismic charge had me in awe. Let alone the fact that this set can be displayed in landing position or upright flight position thanks to a display stand. But the actual building if it? Not something I enjoyed. Maybe it was just too big of a build for my liking, but this was not something I completed in a day or so. In fact it took weeks. Then again I did have to juggle it around work, kids and other reviews!

The LEGO Jango Fett’s Firespray-Class Starship gets the Thumb Culture Gold Award simply because it does look incredible once you get through a time consuming build.
