Cinemaster Cinema Simulator – PC Review

Read Time:3 Minute, 10 Second

Running a cinema isn’t something I would want to do, since I prefer gaming. But when Cinemaster Cinema Simulator popped up, I couldn’t deny I was curious. The game is developed by Overload Games and is looking to release on steam on March 27th. There is a demo out just in case you want to try before you buy, so click here.

Time to catch an early screening.

It’s the front of an empty cinema with large windows and a lit up sign above the doorframe. The lit up words read Johnny Cinema.
Can’t wait to see what movies this guy made.

Gameplay

No real set-up or story for Cinemaster Cinema Simulator, but we do get to name the place. After that, we get a brief tutorial on how everything works, and then we just rinse and repeat. You can select from a large choice of comedically named movies. Once picked, you’re able to organize the screening times. Major tip: don’t screen a movie all day otherwise you won’t get peace to replenish the confectioneries. It’s a pain when you have a massive line of people and only five bottles of water in the fridge. Oh, and the fridge breaking when left open is really stupid and hinders you. Especially when the customer’s patience bar fills too fast.

A line of people wit one at the front wearing a yellow jumper with a qhite cat face and blue shorts. A bar above shows how long the customer is willing to wait. In my hand is a red cup wih white lid and red straw.
Is that all ma’am?

Cinemaster Cinema Simulator gets easier as you play. You’ll be able to hire people to aid in the more boring tasks, such as cleaning the screening rooms. But the progression is rather slow and boring. When serving customers, stock will have to be replenished via the tablet. I find it a little dumb that you order stock to the store next door. Leveling up will grant the player decoration to spruce up the grey void that is the cinema. As well as unlock more employees.

As you level and unlock more options for movies and customers. This is where you can try to further better profits. By looking at HIDB (their version of IMDB), you’re able to see what movies are currently popular. You’ll then get a popularity bonus on income when it screens.

Graphics & Audio

As the case is with many simulator games, Cinemaster Cinema Simulator looks incredibly low effort. The graphics aren’t much to look at, with minimal detailing and shading, almost as if the game hasn’t rendered in yet, and character models look extremely simplistic and somewhat poorly rendered. Environments also look too vast and empty, adding to the glaring lack of detail.

A screen with blue boxes each has an image and title of a movie. The titles are more play on names of such as Johnny Sick being a play on John wick.
Ugh, I really wish A.I. wouldn’t be used.

There’s not much in the way of music either, and only standard sound effects. The one thing I will give kudos to is the funny pun names for the in game movies, but I don’t respect the use of AI for the movie image posters, which definitely adds to the lack of substance feeling in this game.

Final Thoughts

After playing the game for four hours, I was honestly done and bored. The grind to earn levels in Cinemaster Cinema Simulator is rather tedious in comparison to most sims. Like, not to sound harsh, but the game feels rushed and lacks any real creativity behind it. From the A.I. art, to the rather dumbed-down gameplay, which is there to drag hours out so you can’t refund it. I’d say pick it up on a sale as, sadly, this is one of the more boring simulations out there.

Cinemaster Cinema Simulator gets the Thumb Culture Bronze Award from me.
