Purrrifiers: Cleaning Chaos – PC Demo Preview

Purrrifiers: Cleaning Chaos is a co-op chaotic twist on the cleaning simulation genre. It is currently in development by Rubens Games (Pool Cleaning Simulator) and FreeMind Games (House Builder, Aquarist) with publishing by FreeMind Games (aka FreeMind S.A.) and PlayWay S.A. (House Flipper, Serial Cleaner). The demo is available through Steam. Not Quite the Cleanup I was Expecting There are a lot of different simulator games out there. Over the years and having played different types here and there, I've learnt I enjoy ones that get me into a nice groove and calm state. Purrrifiers: Cleaning Chaos sounds a little more spicy than what I would usually pick up, but I couldn't the chance to get an early look at it. The game did take some time for me to warm up to. Read on to for my thoughts...

Ballionaire – PC Demo Preview

It's not surprising that indie game devs can create experiences that delight us consistently. Many indie projects in recent years have been a direct result of game jams during the pandemic years. However, what does surprise me is the growing genre of rogue-like score attack games that take influence from casinos. Ballionaire, created by newojbect and published by Raw Fury, aims to be one of the most cartoonish and fun in this emerging genre. The House always wins Vampire Survivors famously draws its repeatable gameplay loop and old-school graphics from casino psychology. We've seen Balatro and Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers bring poker and blackjack off the table and onto Steam Deck. Ballionaire adds penny drop machines/pachinko to the list, being self-described as a "fast-paced, kin...

Windblown – PC Preview

Windblown is an action, roguelite game developed by Motion Twin and published by Kepler Ghost. Motion Twin created the hit game Dead Cells, which is another game that I've  invested several hundred hours. Most of that making some insane builds of course. As of the time of writing, the game is currently in Early Access with Motion Twin stating the game will remain so for at least one year. With the intro out of the way, let's head to the eye of the storm and see how Windblown has treated me. Sudden Death is just another life lesson Gameplay Windblown is a game about the peaceful inhabitants of The Ark, a floating village orbiting around the gigantic and deadly Vortex. However that deadly Vortex is, as you can imagine, not so peaceful. The only chance The Ark has is for you to become a ...

I was happy with what I played then and was looking forward to seeing what the early access has in store. A road map is out for anyone to look at, but I’ll talk about that later on. Gameplay To grow your cult and ultimately awaken Cthulhu (starting on the island of Dreamshroud) you will do what’s of typical city management games; managing resources, the needs of the people (or acolytes, in this cas...

Railroad Corporation 2 – PC Preview

Railroad Corporation 2 by Ukrainian-based devs Corbie Games and published by Iceberg Interactive is, as the title suggests, a train-based strategic simulator. Releasing on PC on 21st October, I was lucky enough to play the early access demo. Time To Electrify! Following on from the reasonably successful Railroad Corporation that was released in 2019, the golden age of steam is about to move into the electrified 20th-century era. The idea of the game is a simple one. Connect cities with a rail network and profit from the transport of their supply and demand requirements. Can it be carried out easily and in a fun way? Gameplay Railroad Corporation 2 allows you to play either single-player or up to 4 players online, either competitively or co-operatively. At the time of writing, th...

Industry Giant 4.0 – PC Preview

Industry Giant 4.0 is a business simulator game by Munich-based devs Don Vs Dodo and published by Toplitz Productions. Launching on PC on 24th Oct, I had the chance to play the demo of what is a hopeful revival of the Industry Giant franchise. Ah, Breaker One-Nine, This Here's The Rubber Duck! The first Industry Giant game was released in 1997. Oasis had just released their 3rd album "Be Here Now", and Backstreet Boys were telling everyone that "Backstreet's Back" while the Spice Girls were getting us to "Spice Up Your Life". Meanwhile, gamers around the world were playing GoldenEye 007 on their Nintendo while others were venturing into a strange top-down game called Grand Theft Auto. Life was good. There were subsequent offerings of Industry Giant 2 in 2002 and then a spiritual 3rd e...

Karma: The Dark World – Preview

Thanks to the teams over at POLLARD STUDIO LLC and Wired Productions, I got to have a sneaky pre-release play of the Karma: The Dark World’s demo. Set in a 1980s dystopian Germany, a corporation known as Leviathan, looks to be running the show, but not everything appears as it seems. Whilst there isn’t a release date available yet, you can Wishlist the game on Steam now. The mind is a funny thing. Gameplay In this first-person cinematic psychological thriller we play as Daniel. Loading up the demo we awaken in a medical room with no memory of who we are and why we are there. I began navigating through various rooms, which in turn calibrated my game. For example, brightness, FOV (Field of View) and audio. This feature is a really cool part of the gameplay and not just a quick flash o...
