Croc Legend of the Gobbos Remastered – PS5 Review

Croc is hopping back into action in Croc Legend of the Gobbos Remastered. Argonaut Games has taken up the task of fitting this classic game into more modern settings through upgraded graphics, a brand new control scheme and some other features. This funky little remaster is available on the Playstation Store for £24.99 Gems, fur balls with crowns and a whole lot of jumping Gameplay Simply put, Croc does exactly what it is meant to do. It plays a lot smoother than it used to (or maybe I'm just better at games now) whilst keeping that nostalgic feeling alive. It's a game that doesn't have many bells and whistles, but it really doesn't need them. If you have played Croc in the past, it's almost exactly the same as playing it back in the days of the PS1. Jumping, running, and tail w...

Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Land – PS5 Review

The Atelier series is a long-running Japanese RPG series from developer Gust and publisher Koei Tecmo. With this latest release, Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Land, the series now has 26 main entries, and 17 spin-offs. With such a vast history, it can feel daunting to jump in at the latest point and essentially ignore all the previous games. However, that's exactly what I'm going to do. So, I'll be bringing you a review from the point of view of an Atelier newbie. As a small aside, I do have the Ryza trilogy in my backlog, so hopefully this will give me a flavour of what to expect there. You, Me & Yumia A cold-open gives us a glimpse at a party of characters, riding a large platform upwards. Among the party is main character Yumia Liessfeldt. Suddenly,...

AI Limit – PS5 Review

I haven’t played a soul-like game for a good while, but luckily one has popped up on my radar. And that is AI Limit. A game created by Sense Games and takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. I’m looking to face some tough bosses and build myself to be overpowered as well. You’ll be able to snag AI Limit on PlayStation when it launches on the March 27th. There will also be two editions available, one is the standard. The other is Deluxe and will net you a couple of in-game items, such as a sword and Mud Balls. Worried the game might not be for you, then luckily a demo is also out so you can try it before you buy. Push past your limits and win! Gameplay At its core, AI Limit plays much like a soul-like. You have a bit of freedom to build Arisa, how you want. This is done through stat...

WWE 2K25 – PlayStation Review

Having been out for a week or so now, WWE 2K25 has hit the ground running. With potentially the biggest line-up of superstars to pick from, as well as some improved game modes to choose from. We were lucky enough to be provided with the Bloodline Edition. However aside from some extra bits and pieces, it is all the same fundamental game, so let's take a look. Your Tribal Chief Says Buy It! Having recently got back into wrestling, thanks mostly to the WWE signing a deal with Netflix, I felt obliged to get this game in my locker and get to grips with some of the biggest and most iconic wrestlers out there. Now before I get too deep into this review I want to let you know that I'm mostly going to be covering what's new. If you are searching for this review then you already know the basic...

Split Fiction – PS5 Review

Hazelight Studio, champions of modern co-op, return with another 2-person adventure, Split Fiction. Their last effort, It Takes Two, sold over 20 million copies and won multiple Game of the Year and Best Multiplayer awards. It even managed to snag a Thumb Culture Platinum Award from yours truly. Can Hazelight create a follow-up that matches or exceeds their previous game? There's only one way to find out. Writers Blocked Split Fiction tells the story of 2 struggling writers, Zoe and Mio, who are in the process of getting their first publishing deal with mega-corporation, Rader Publishing. Zoe is a chirpy optimist who writes fantasy stories, while Mio is a reserved pessimistic, sci-fi author. Upon discovering that they must submit themselves to a strange experiment to complete their deal,...

Rugby 25 – PS5 Review

Rugby is a complex game with rules upon rules upon rules. Thankfully Big Ant Studios have given it a go. Now I've been waiting for a decent Rugby game since Jonah Lomu Rugby in 1997. Can Rugby 25 bring back some of the highs I felt? Let's find out. Crouch, Bind, Set There have been so many Rugby games released over the years. Even EA got involved a couple of times. This is the first foray, however, for Big Ant Studios. Albeit in the Union code, having previously released a Rugby League game and even an AFL game. Surely this only bodes well for the Australian developer? Gameplay If you have ever watched or played Rugby, then you know its complexities. It's such a hard and dynamic game to bring into the video game world. Especially to ensure that the flow of the game is well represented ...

Tomb Raider IV – VI Remastered – PS5 Review

The only thing I wanted after reviewing the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Trilogy was a remaster of 4-6. Apsyr apparently heard my prayers and have finally remastered the finale of the original Lara plot as well as Angel of Darkness.  Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered brings back The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider 5 and Angel of Darkness to modern consoles. Controversially, Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness is one of my favourite games and Tomb Raider IV was the first game I ever finished on my own so there was a lot of nostalgia wrapped up in these games. When the games were announced I pre-ordered immediately but was it worth it? Or did the remaster not hit the mark the same way these games originally did? I don't count poison darts and triggered entombment your average child's tea party You can...

Turbo Overkill – PS5 Review

Turbo Overkill is an intense retro shooter by Trigger Happy Interactive. Previously only available on PC, thanks to publishing by Apogee Entertainment it is now available on consoles. If you want to grab a PS5 version you can do so for around £16.  If you're looking for your next Doom-esque throwback while awaiting The Dark Ages, then take a moment to read this review. Trust me. The Most Colourfully Lethal Boomer Shooter There have been at least a couple of other Doom-like boomer shooters that have come my way in my time writing for Thumb Culture. Each had its own bit of flair but still not quite as visual of one as Turbo Overkill. The colour palette is nothing less than a striking, modern retro too. Must be that cyberpunk theme I suppose. But check out my thoughts of this pc gone consol...

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1 – PS5 Review

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1 is from Don't Nod, the original creators of Life Is Strange. The story unfolds across timelines, with the first placing you firmly in the summer of 1995, when Batman Forever played in cinemas and Oasis headlined Glastonbury. The second takes you to a modern setting in 2022. The developers released the game on 18th February 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Windows. Nearly 30 years have passed since protagonist Swann Holloway last saw the rest of the friendship group, Bloom & Rage. In the modern-day setting, which shifts to a first-person perspective compared to the past’s third-person view, The mystery begins with a box addressed to the group with no idea who sent it.
