It’s that time of year where TikTok is full of Boo Basket videos and inspiration for the best Halloween gifts. Or maybe that’s just my timeline? Anyway, here I was wishing for someone to get me the perfect Halloween gift, when the lovely people at EXG Pro asked me to take a look at their Cable Guys Pumpkin King Jack and Monkey Bomb controller holders. Both are sufficiently spooky looking so of course I said yes.
What’s This?
If you’re a regular reader of the Collectibles Section here on Thumb Culture you’ll know I’ve reviewed and written about a fair few Cable Guys products. Most recently the One Piece Luffy Controller Holder. I’m doing things a little different today, a two for one as it were. So let’s get into it.

Monkey Bomb Controller Holder
Now I am not a Call of Duty player, although I am somewhat of a COD widow on occasion. That being said even I know these sinister icons, however you won’t need to find a Mystery Box to get hands on with this one. It’s also significantly less deadly, just don’t tell him that.
EXG Pro know what their products are about, and they know how to do it well. The quality of this lil guy feels high and is one of the better looking controller holders they offer. Aside the fact it is 22cm tall, this Monkey Bomb Cable Guys looks like it has been picked straight out the game. It is gritty looking, with accurate colour palates and a terrifying stare. Oh god it’s staring at me a little too hard as I type. I take it back, you’re a great Cymbal Monkey!
The base of this guy has nice texturing and it feels sturdy. Of course I put this to test with a range of tech, including the Dual Sense as pictured below.

Pumpkin King Jack Controller Holder
Moving onto the Pumpkin King himself, it is of course Jack from Nightmare Before Christmas. This Pumpkin King Jack Cable Guys is everything a Burton fan could want from a controller holder. It is a standard height of 22cm, but what isn’t standard is the level of design detail. Jack truly feels as though he has been pulled straight from Halloweentown. The stand’s fountain detail in particular is beautiful. I find it hard to believe this isn’t supposed to be admired more!
In fact the detail of this functional figure gets lost behind, well, it’s functionality. Yes, it is sturdy and holds a controller without a wobble, but it also seems a shame to have so much of the detailing hidden from view. It really is a high quality product and as an NBC fan who is used to some pretty 3rd rate merch, this really does stand out. In a very good way.

Final Thoughts
I always say the same thing when it comes to Cable Guys products, I wish they did a series that were just the figures without the need to be useful. Please EXG Pro, please make these as actual figures! I’d even buy both versions! I have a fair few now, and I’m running out of gadgets to put on them. Does it mean I need to buy new gadgets? Or stop collecting Cable Guys? Both most likely.
These functional figures always make for a good gift, be it for a friend, family member or even yourself. And for between £20-£30 you really won’t break the bank either.
