Yes, that is the full name of this piece of hardware from AMVR. Made brilliantly by the crazy minds at AMVR, the GA1 Force Feedback Best Golf Club for Quest 3 / 3S aims to further immerse you in your favourite golf game. Does it do a good job? Well, I took it out into the back garden to have a few rounds and see whether it’s worth its lofty price tag.
It’s All In The Hips
Priced up towards the £100 mark, this is an accessory for the purist. Those who have many rounds under their belts, or those looking to practice in the rainy season. Don’t be fooled by the simplistic appearance, though. Beneath that wonderful carbon fibre pattern lies some neat technology. Let’s dive in!
Design Features
Featuring upgrades all around from the previous iteration of a VR Golf club accessory. The AMVR GA1 Golf club is 31.5 inches long, and included in the lengthy box is a 34g weight that you can attach to the club. Giving you that feel of both those weighty irons that your grandad gave you when you first started golfing. With the head of the club, the mounting part, being made of metal, meaning that your centre of gravity is perfectly aligned with a real golf club.

The AMVR GA1 Golf Club claims to have Force Feedback, and whilst it’s not the same as what you’d get in a steering wheel. The club has a moving part inside, and a truly innovative design generates that sound you get when you hit the ball perfectly. As well as giving you a nice feel through the grip, to give you a more realistic experience. Although don’t be fooled, it won’t let you know if you happen to scuff the shot, or give you stinging fingers if you happen to top your tee shot.
The quick installation of the GA1 means that you won’t be spending ages getting it set up. You simply slide the right controller into the holder, wrap the strap around, and you are away. Then just set it up in whatever golf game of your choosing, and you can hit the course in a matter of seconds. Now whilst it holds the right controller, you can use this stick left or right-handed, and with the professional grip, it will feel just like your real-life clubs. In fact, the AMVR grip has the same design as my set of Wilson Irons.

In Action
Having used other golf accessories for my VR “ruined walk”, I couldn’t wait to get out onto the course with this one. It was an absolute joy to use; the feedback you get with every swing was brilliant. Even the vibration of the controller through the shaft was welcome. It was a much better choice on the full golf games, rather than the mini golf extravaganza of Walkabout Golf. Making use of this accessory for small putting swings just felt like a waste. Getting those full swings is where it’s at.
Final Thoughts
AMVR have brought us an accessory that any true golf fan will want to purchase. This immediately improved the immersion of an already great experience.
