Every year Dovetail Games hosts Dovetail Direct. An online event where fans can get all the latest news about what Dovetail Games are working on. This year was no exception with some big news that will excite railway enthusiasts. Train Sim World 5 is coming! But that’s not all, as Dovetail Games announced two other Train Sim franchise games coming soon.
Train Sim World 5
That’s right Train Sim 5 is coming and you don’t have to wait too long for the release. The game launches 17th September and is available for pre-order now on PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms. The game includes brand new routes across the UK, Germany and the USA. Notably, the highly requested West Coast Main Line features a new London terminus to the series with London Euston. If you buy the Deluxe Edition you can also enjoy the sleek Avanti West Coast Pendolino trains too. Frankfurt also makes its Train Sim World debut with the ICE-T. What’s more is the Californian action arriving in the form of Metrolink’s San Bernardino Line.
New gameplay features include Route Hopping, Fast Travel and Conductor Mode. Whereby players can check tickets and manage doors for the first time in service mode. Six future Train Sim World Add-ons were also announced. These will cover Wales and the Netherlands for the first time, alongside new areas of the UK, USA and Germany.
“We’re answering the call of players with some of their most requested content, including iconic UK, European and American routes and trains. With exciting new features like Conductor Mode, Route Hopping, Fast Travel and a much-requested overhaul to the 2D Live Map this is a substantial new edition of Train Sim World!” said Matt Peddlesden, Train Sim World 5’s Executive Producer
Train Sim World VR: New York
Chugging into a new platform Dovetail Games is bringing New York’s Harlem Line to Meta Quest players. Getting the virtual reality treatment, Train Sim World VR: New York is a standalone exclusive title. With intuitive controls and brand-new game mechanics, players can explore a stylish New York apartment space alongside beloved railway gameplay. Wishlisting is now available.
Speaking about the foray into VR, Dovetail Games’ CEO, Jon Rissik, said “This is a totally new experience for players who want to jump into the cab and enjoy an authentic train driving simulation, with maximum levels of immersion. We can’t wait to see the reaction of VR players to the unique gameplay that it offers.”
Train Sim World Tycoon
Through a partnership with Talewind, this project aims to extend Dovetail Games’ franchise to a younger audience within Roblox’s globally popular virtual universe. Players will be able to build and manage their stations. All whilst meeting new AI characters and play with friends to explore a vast and diverse world. And of course drive trains! The interactive and creative elements of Roblox will allow players to customize their train stations, strategize economic management, and immerse themselves in a lively, ever-evolving environment.
Gemma Johnson-Brown COO says “We’re incredibly proud and excited to expand our trains franchise to new, wider and younger audiences through Train Sim World 5 as well as our upcoming VR and Roblox titles. We look forward to sharing more with players in the coming months.”
