Video Games-specialist book publisher Bitmap Books has announced the latest addition to its collection: A Tale of Two Halves: The History of Football Video Games. You don’t have to wait long for this goal-den opportunity either as it launces 17th October.
Dedicated to the beautiful game in 2D & 3D
Fans of iconic franchises like Sensible Soccer, FIFA, Pro Evolution Soccer, and Football Manager can expect to find a treasure trove of trivia, history, and analysis. The beautiful game has had some brilliant (and plenty of awful) video game renditions over the years. And this pays tribute to them all!
A Tale of Two Halves is authored by football games historian Richard Moss. Moss dives into the evolution of the genre’s rich history from 1980 to 2010. Aptly split into two halves, the book celebrates four decades of football games across 2D classics and modern 3D simulations. Featuring over 400 games, hundreds of screenshots, bespoke illustrations, and interviews with pioneering developers.
A Tale of Two Halves includes interviews with notable developers, including: Andrew Prime (Ultimate Soccer Manager), Marc Aubanel (FIFA International Soccer) and Kevin Toms (Football Manager), to name a few. Available in Standard and Captain’s Editions, each features Bitmap Books‘ renowned high-quality finish, stunning visuals as well as unique footy-themed elements, like boot lace bookmarks and a fabric armband, which holds the book securely in its slipcase while celebrating the effort of football’s captaining greats.
So how much will A Tale of Two Halves set you back? The book’s Standard Edition will retail for £34.99. Whilst the limited run Captain’s Edition will retail for £49.99.
