If you are in the market for a new controller but you might be short on cash. Then this wireless controller might be perfect for you. The Gamrombo LED Wireless Controller is compatible with the PlayStation 5, as well as PC. Available on Amazon at a RRP of less than £45. Although currently at time of writing, the controller is available for £30. Honestly, even before we get started with the meat of the review I’m going to say it. That is a bargain price.

Similar Looks, Similar Performance

We were fortunate enough to have had one of these delivered, but even at the price point, it almost seems too good to be true. Let’s find out whether it was or not.

Design Features

From a looks point of view, this is straight out of the Dual Sense playbook. Two thumbsticks, a D-pad, face buttons, although not the traditional PlayStation layout, but replaced with nicely lit buttons with symbols on them that do look very similar. Then you have the touchpad and a few other buttons that you will find very familiar.

This all feels somewhat familiar

Flip that sucker over, though, and you have an extra two assignable buttons. They can be edited on the fly with a combination of button presses. So feel free to try that out so that you can get the perfect setup for whatever game you are playing.

The controller even comes with a speaker built in. So another tick on the board for the Gamrombo LED Wireless Controller. One downside though is that there is no built-in microphone, so if you want to use a headset with microphone you just need to plug on in. Using the 3.5mm headphone jack, you can plug in your headset and join that chat party.

Lighting

The controller is fully lit up, with the d-pad featuring some nice white RGB, the face buttons and two circles around the thumbsticks. One neat trick is the lighting button on the front, all you have to do is press the button and the RGB changes, from a bunch of static colours. Through to changing colours, both in solid form and rotating around the thumbsticks.

Even the buttons looks familiar

The Gamrombo LED Wireless Controller features a turbo button as well. Now whilst I don’t tend to make use of that sort of thing, I can appreciate that some people will want to make use of this.

Now, whilst a lot of these features are available on a number of third-party controllers. This one does it all incredibly well, and whilst it doesn’t have the haptic feedback like the Dual Sense does. It does a great job with a dual vibration function as well as a gyroscope for motion controls.

Final Thoughts

The Gamrombo LED Wireless Controller is a great replacement for an official PlayStation controller. It’s even better if you are just after a new controller for your PC. With a whole bank of features that adorn the majority of controllers out there, but a price that is undeniably attractive. If you need to pick up a new controller, then honestly, you should be picking up one of these.
