Thanks to the publisher, Thunderful Publishing, we get a look at the next entry into the SteamWorld franchise. Created by the development team called The Station. They give SteamWorld a new approach with SteamWorld Build, a management sim coming in early December this year. The planet's dying, but not our hope I enjoyed some of the previous games in the SteamWorld universe, for example, the SteamWorld Dig games and the turn-based game SteamWorld Heists. I've eagerly been waiting for SteamWorld Build since I enjoy a good Management game. If you've ever played any previous entries, let us know your thoughts in the comments below. Gameplay SteamWorld Build starts off with our protagonists, Jack and Astrid Clutchsprocket. They are looking for a way off the planet. A core that journeys ...

My Time at Sandrock – Xbox X Review

Ever feel the need to get away from it all? Well it seems that Pathea have the solution with a great opportunity as a builder in Sandrock.  Join a community in need of a little support to survive and help them out. My Time at Sandrock will hopefully allow me to put my generous self to work selflessly helping the locals. Have I really got what it takes to build the things that they need? Time to dig out my hammer, screwdriver and see what happens. My Time at Sandrock - Rocking out or letting the Sandman in? The wild west with a bit of a difference, not sure whether to dig out my stetson and six shooter and have a duel at sundown, or maybe I need to fix my toolbox and become a slave to the system. Either way, I hope to have a lot of fun revitalising Sandrock into a thriving community. Fing...

The Invincible holds its own in this sci-fi adventure I wasn't fa...

Truck Driver: The American Dream – Xbox Review

When Americans dream they dream big. What could be better than the freedom of driving down highway number 19 in an 18 wheeler? Pulling your air-horn every time you see a fellow trucker and chatting to all manner of folks that are hitchhiking. What a life, full of excitement and adventure. Fortunately for those not able to do it for real, Kyodai and Soedesco have teamed up to make Truck Driver: The American Dream a reality. Truck Driver: The American Dream - or the Gamer's Nightmare? Gameplay Truck Driver: The American Dream threw me in at the deep end. I was instantly driving in the worst storm ever with thunder and lightning all around. Explosions in close proximity were very distracting. Fortunately in all this, I was given the basic controls so that I didn't veer straight off the r...

Moonstone Island – PC Review

Moonstone Island is a Monster Catching, Card Battler, Farming Sim. Developed by Studio Supersoft and published by Raw Fury. Being Studio Supersoft’s first project, I know that they knocked this one out of the park. There was a rocky start for the crew at Studio Supersoft where people were trying to scam others on Discord. By either asking for information to get an early copy of the game or just giving them a download code. Doing this would cause major issues for those users like getting their accounts hacked. Luckily, the issue was resolved by notifying the public on Twitter and Reddit about the situation as soon as possible. They made sure no one was tricked by those scammers.  It’s available on Steam and will have a Nintendo Switch port at a later date. Giving us a game that not only...

The Fabulous Fear Machine – PC Review

The Fabulous Fear Machine (TFFM) comes from developer Fictiorama Studios (Do Not Feed the Monkeys) and is published by AMC Games & Shudder. TFFM is an indie outbreak sim horror game with a fresh spin on the genre. Not your typical outbreak though, fear is what is spread through the machinations of the titular machine. The game is set across 3 distinct campaigns where each character makes a wish to Kirlian, a sentient fortune teller carnival-style machine. We're all cogs in The Fabulous Fear Machine TFFM tells its stories in comic book format, panels and all, reminding me of classic comics and pulp fiction horror. In return for helping them achieve their wish, Kirlian takes the character's life story for mysterious reasons. Through spreading fear, each character manipulates stock mark...

Envision had a hand in 'further developing' Command & Conquer - working alongside Electronic Arts. They also received the Best Studio 2011 award, MMO of the year award, and many, many more. So we have an award-winning indie studio with buckets of experience... I go into this one with high hopes and great expectations. The Return of Volker Wertich Colony Sim fans may remember a gentleman who goes by the name of Volker Wertich. Back in 1993, he was the brain behind The Settlers - a classic real-time city-building game. Considered by many to be an all time childhood memory, we're excited to see Volker make a return to the industry with Pioneers of Pagonia, acting as creative direct...

Homeseek – PC Review

Released 20th July 2023, Homeseek is a post apocalyptic colony sim developed by Traptics and published by The Iterative Collection - with QA credited to iXie Gaming. Homeseek is a new venture for Traptics, whose previous games were both 2D. Being an avid fan of colony sims, I've been looking forward to getting my hands on this one. June 6th - 2101 "Born, bred, and educated in underground bunkers, we emerge to stake our claim on the sparsely inhabited surface. What awaits us is a wasteland ravaged by drought and scarred by ancient wars. It may not be as devoid of life as we had imagined, but that does not make it any less perilous; end even where the barren land meets sea, the undrinkable water only taunts us more." Story First up, let's talk story. Rather than an 'everything all at onc...
