Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – PC Review

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a narrative-driven JRPG by Sandfall Interactive, an indie development team from France. The game is a solo adventure with publishing by Kepler Interactive (Windblown, Pacific Drive). It is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam or Epic. For this review I'm taking a look at the PC version. Embark on an Expedition into a Vibrant, Deadly World Oh hey look a game that isn't a roguelite! There has seemingly been a lot of hype leading up to the release of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I'm not sure if it was word of mouth or simply good advertising that caught my eye. But I'm taking the plunge into a genre nearly wholly unfamiliar to me, so bear with me. Honestly the most prominent recollection I have of playing anything even similar is o...

Rusty Rabbit – PC Review

Rusty Rabbit is an action-adventure RPG from developers NITRO PLUS with publishing assistance from SoFun. I originally saw a glimpse of this game during Steam NextFest in Spring of last year. While the game's premise and mechanics had me slightly excited, it was the fact that Kazuma Kiryu's Japanese voice actor was voicing the main protagonist, Stamp, that cemented my need to play it. I entered fanboy mode hard over that fact alone. It's been a long while since I got to enjoy collecting Junk again. Let's cut the chatter and figure out if this game is great or a McGregor. Gameplay You start out as the rabbit known as Stamp. A junk/mech fanatic rabbit existing in a world that seems like our Earth, but going through a second Ice Age. With a world consisting of just rabbits and 'rust b...

Freeride – PC Review

Wacky characters and some destructive scenarios await in Freeride. Developed by Flightyfelon Games Inc and published with help from Future Friends Games, the game releases on Steam today (1st May). ALL ABOARD, NEXT STOP! MY FEELS GETTING RAN OVER LIKE A PIECE OF PAPER!!! This game is more of a personality test masquerading as an RPG adventure. And it doesn't hide it either. When I say it cane be destructive too, I mean it in the literal sense. Though the trip is short, we've got multiple routes to the same destination. I'll make sure to keep this review completely spoiler-free. Gameplay Freeride has you playing as Proto. He's just minding his own business at the train station until he gets a text message. Responding to the text or not is the first of many choices within the game. I...

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered – PC Review

It really happened! The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has released! Developed by Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos, it is available right now for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. The base game includes all of the old DLCs that are available for the original version of the game. However, there is also a Digital Deluxe Edition that features quests for new armour and weapons, as well as a digital artbook and the game's soundtrack! By The Nine! Well, that release was unexpected! Like sure, yeah, there were leaks, but when can you ever properly believe those? Anyways! I'm so thrilled to see so much love shown to my second favourite The Elder Scrolls game — I'm a Morrowind girlie, fight me. Still, I love Oblivion with every fibre of my being, and this remaster has settled straight into my...

Game Over A Musical RPG?? – PC Review

You may be reading the title and wondering just what this is. A Musical RPG, I hear you ask. Why yes, that is indeed the title, Game Over A Musical RPG??. Releasing on 11 April on Steam the game is developed and published by solo dev Jake Houston. This might just become your new favourite rhythm game. That's right, RPG now stands for Rhythm Playing Game! The Rhythm Might Just Get You I considered myself quite a musical person. However, once playing through this, I knew that I might have bitten off more than I could chew. I pressed on and managed to get somewhere. Let's go and check out more of the game. Gameplay Having been developed over a 8 year period, Game Over A Musical RPG?? has a lot of gameplay to it. The first thing that I found incredibly impressive was the use of sound. I kn...

Assassin’s Creed Shadows PC Review

Assassin's Creed Shadows is an Action, Adventure, RPG developed and published by Ubisoft. This game is a part of the Assassin's Creed franchise that's first started way back in 2007. Available on PlayStation 5, Xbox and PC, I got my hands on a PC copy to review. Sneak and make sure to not get caught. But if you do, leave no witnesses! I originally played the first game in the series, yet stopped when I finished Assassin's Creed Revelations. I would have played more, but I just wasn't able to move on after playing three games with Ezio Auditore. No joke, I still say "Requiescat in pace" when I play any game with an assassin in it. Or when I pretend to surprise/kill any of my friends when I sneak up on them. But, let's not get side tracked with memory lane. AC Shadows was met with a lot...

Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Land – PS5 Review

The Atelier series is a long-running Japanese RPG series from developer Gust and publisher Koei Tecmo. With this latest release, Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist Of Memories & The Envisioned Land, the series now has 26 main entries, and 17 spin-offs. With such a vast history, it can feel daunting to jump in at the latest point and essentially ignore all the previous games. However, that's exactly what I'm going to do. So, I'll be bringing you a review from the point of view of an Atelier newbie. As a small aside, I do have the Ryza trilogy in my backlog, so hopefully this will give me a flavour of what to expect there. You, Me & Yumia A cold-open gives us a glimpse at a party of characters, riding a large platform upwards. Among the party is main character Yumia Liessfeldt. Suddenly,...

Rise of the Ronin PC Review

Rise of the Ronin is an Action, Adventure, RPG that's developed and published by KOEI TECMO. Creators of the Atelier series, Dynasty Warriors, Ninja Gaiden and some other titles I've had years of playing. There was controversy attached to this title, but it's mostly due to Sony not releasing the game in South Korea. There's no official reason provided as to why this was done. But this was only happening for owners of a PS5. With the experience KOEI TECMO has with making a game that has anything to do with ancient Asian history. On top of the combat experience, thanks to the Ninja Gaiden franchise experience. Heck, they even give people who get the game before April 2nd to get some moves and items from Ninja Gaiden. So, if you see this review and want that bonus, do it quickly. Be in th...

Everhood 2 – PC Review

Everhood 2 is an Action, Adventure, RPG that was developed by Foreign Gnomes. This game is the sequel to the previous Everhood. At first, I thought this game was going to almost never reference the previous game, but they do. In a major way that I'm not going to spoil much of what I saw. Yet, I will say this now, that if you have photosensitive epilepsy, you'll have to avoid this game like the plague. In the previous Everhood, Foreign Gnomes had us in the most emotional kung fu grip I have ever been in since Undertale. They started out with us learning how to dodge attacks and survive each encounter passively. Until halfway through when they rip the rug from under you and learn how to do something off script. Once that begins, we're on the emotional rollercoaster until the very end. ...
