So you've just unboxed your brand new Switch 2, and you want a launch title. Now there were plenty launched, but nothing quite as colourful as Puyo Puyo Tetris 2S! This mashup game is released on a whole host of platforms, but we are going to concentrate purely on that lovely new Ninty console. Bringing the colourful Puyo and the harsh, lined shapes into one game may well have been a challenge. Not so, said SEGA. Gameplay Gameplay is simple; picking from a few different options on the main menu will thrust you into the game. There is a section for lessons, but let's be honest, we all know what we need to do. A Building Full Of Cats 2 – PC Review

This year, I've begun playing hidden-object games between other games as a way of relaxing and clearing my mind a bit. This was particularly needed recently after playing Blue Prince and Expedition 33 — two games that drain you mentally and emotionally respectively. It's purr-fect timing, then, that Devcats are back with a new title, A Building Full Of Cats 2. I've played a few of their games previously, on both PC and PS5, so was somewhat clued in as to what to expect from this new entry to the Full Of Cats series. Still, there were still some surprises to be found. Bursting With Purr-sonality A Building Full Of Cats 2 is Devcats biggest game yet, with over 2000+ cats to pet. While the residents of the building are away on holiday, it's up to you to check in on the cats and help with va...

PaperKlay – PC Review

PaperKlay, out now on Steam, developed and published by the one-dev studio WhyKev, is precisely the sort of passion project that aims to showcase its creativity. It is a 3D platformer collect-a-thon where the world is stitched together from cardboard, paper, clay and the kind of materials you might find in a Year 3 art cupboard after a particularly chaotic lesson. And we mean that in the most loving way. Here to stay or one for the shredder? It is fantastic to see games like PaperKlay embracing bold, unconventional art styles. They might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they make the gaming landscape far more colourful and creative. So, we want to hear from you. What is the most unique-looking game you have ever played? Drop it in the comments below and let us celebrate those visual gem...

Following the success of the first game, Pine Studio has shared that Escape Simulator 2 is in development! Even better it will be launching this October on Steam. This highly anticipated sequel  can be played with up to 8 players. Can't wait until October? Well, I have good news. There is a demo available right now thanks to the Steam Next Fest, where you can puzzle our way through the grounds of Dracula’s castle. The Key To A Good Game Escape Simulator 2 promises to build on the breakout success of the original game. In this sequel, players can enjoy even more detailed environments and deeper interactivity with their surroundings. But that's not all there is also a brand-new feature called the ‘Room Editor 2.0’. Let's take a look at the trailer together. https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Ghost Town – Quest 3 Review

If you, like me, are always looking for a new experience in virtual reality, then keep reading! How does a supernatural world that, during your playtime with the game, you will bridge the gap of sound? Intriguing right? That's exactly what Ghost Town by Fireproof Games offers to players. I Ain't Afraid Of No Ghost I was excited to get hands-on with this game, being a bit of a spooky game fan. Sitting at a 4.8 rating on the Meta store, you can rest assured that you are in for a treat with this one! Let's take a closer look at just why that is. Gameplay You start the game playing as Edith, exploring a seemingly abandoned theatre. You are there with your brother Adam. In this section, we get a glimpse of Edith's powers, being able to head into Limbo and help souls finally be at rest. Play...

Cairn – PS5 Preview

Climbing a mountain is one of those activities that seems exciting and life changing, but one that I will never actually do because of the risks, much in the same way as skydiving, spelunking, and weekend trips to IKEA. Cairn aims to deliver at least one of those experiences to you without the risk of flat pack divorce. Following Sony PlayStation's State of Play showcase on 4th June, a PS5 demo was released, and I wasted no time clambering into it. I'm amazed by The Game Bakers' apparent ability to turn their craft to vastly different genres of video game. From the ultra-fast twin-stick shooter Furi, to laid back adventure narrative Haven, and now a surprisingly deep mountain climbing/survival simulation. They've even tackled a drag-and-fling, top-down RPG about squids. Is there nothing...

Projected Dreams – PC Review

Projected Dreams, the debut title from small Swiss-based Flawberry Studios, is a heart-warming tale told through the medium of shadows. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and possibly go crazy solving an increasingly mind-bending collection of puzzles. You'll also not be able to buy it until 29th May. But that doesn't stop you adding it your Steam Wishlist! The Last Of The Shadow Puppets Can your shadow puppet skills carry Senka through the journey of life? Or will you end up all fingers and thumbs? Let’s dive in! Gameplay Projected Dreams is enchantingly simple. You're shown a mysterious, shadowy shape and asked to recreate it using a torch, a wall, and whatever other objects you can find. If you can get somewhere in the ballpark, then that is OK too. Succeed, and you will be awarded three...

Frog Legs – PC Review

There's something delightful about games that lure you in with pixelated innocence before launching you face-first into the existential horrors of frog-based trauma. Frog Legs, developed and published by the wonderfully twisted mind of Elliott Dahle (yes, the same person behind The Man in the Park), does exactly that. What starts like a cute 8-bit Frogger-esque jaunt quickly devolves into a surreal, dimension-hopping horror comedy with no business being this entertaining. Frog Legs – From Hops to Shots in 40 Minutes Flat It's refreshing to see indie titles like Frog Legs blend dimensions, tones and gameplay styles while telling a funny and disturbing little story. We need more bold, bonkers games like this in the world. Do you have a favourite indie horror that deserves the spotlight? Dr...

American Arcadia – PS5 Review

American Arcadia marks the latest release from Out of the Blue Games, the studio behind Call of the Sea (you can check out our review of that here). After launching on PC in 2023, the game has now made its way to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Xbox One courtesy of publisher Raw Fury. This review focuses on the PlayStation 5 version. So, the big question: have Out of the Blue Games delivered another smash hit, or should it have come with a warning? It Can't be Tru(man) Set in a retro-futuristic 1970s metropolis, American Arcadia drops you into the brown leather shoes of Trevor Hills — a painfully average office worker voiced by the ever-talented Yuri Lowenthal (you’ll know him from Marvel's Spider-Man). Trevor soon realises his entire life has played out as part of ...

BOKURA: planet – PC Review

When a game comes along with a vision so bold that a certain amount of hoop jumping is required, you sit up and take notice. And so it is with BOKURA: planet, a unique 2-player co-op, puzzle adventure that has you working with and, at times, against your real-life cohort as you try to escape a mysterious, unknown planet. Xenomorphing Power Rangers BOKURA: planet is the latest game from solo Japanese developer Tokoronyori. Over the years, they have gained a reputation for crafting unique, pixel-art experiences that often break the 4th wall in novel and unexpected ways. Their debut title, farewell planet, had you carrying out the final wishes of machines that thought they were human. In BOKURA: planet’s previous instalment, BOKURA, you took on the role of two boys, one of whom sees the wor...
