The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu – PC Review

I'm here checking out the latest release of The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, a cooperative-exploration game. Where you alone or with three friends will begin to uncover what Lovecraftian horrors that ACE Team, has created on the island. If you're like me and love anything cosmic horror or at least has Lovecraftian themes, then you can pick The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu on Steam. Maybe you are looking for some other suggestions to scratch that Lovecraft itch, then check out my articles for Necrophosis, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, and Stygian: Outer Gods.  Don't trust anything, not even your own eyes! Gameplay Upon loading into The Mound, the player will be able to select from one of four characters to play from. From what I played selecting a character is more for visual and effect rather than ...

Cursed Companions – PC Preview

Cursed Companions is an Action, Adventure, Co-op game from the minds at Crimson Forge Studios. It's actually a unique take on the concept that we get from games like R.E.P.O, Yap-Yap, and Lethal Company. The difference between Cursed Companions is that after meeting the quota, we have to fight a boss. But I'll cover more of them in the next section. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN AND THE TOWER OF WAFFLES SHE RESIGNS IN! Gameplay Cursed Companions has you playing for what I'm dubbing Kidney Beans. These Kidney Beans are in the service of the Queen, who must collect cursed treasures. However, there is one thing you must always keep to yourself if you don't trust your friends, and that's your "cursed word". This task will either break your brain or have you meet your maker faster if it's a word you...

The 7th Guest Remake – PC Review

Back in 1993, The 7th Guest was a massive deal. I was only 13 years old, and it felt completely groundbreaking. At the time, seeing real video footage of actors overlayed right on top of those drawn graphical backgrounds was mind-blowing; nobody had ever seen a hybrid mixture like that before. Because it was such a product of its time, I was honestly really unsure how The 7th Guest would come across in a modern remake. Old man Stauf built a house... It's tough to capture that lightning in a bottle twice, especially when the original relied so heavily on tech that was considered black magic back then. But stepping back into this world on PC, I was pleasantly surprised. Gameplay The core setup puts you back in the shoes of an unnamed spirit wandering the dark, forgotten halls of an e...

Incantation – PS5 Review

Incantation the game is tied to the 2022 Taiwanese film of the same name and is developed by the team at SOFTSTAR ETERTAINMENT. Although from looking it up, it does say it is more of a prequel. It isn't often we see many tie-in games any more, so I'm interested to see what Incantation has to offer. If you enjoyed the film let us know below, and for anyone looking to pick it up on PlayStation, you can grab it here. Don't forget to chant. Gameplay Assuming the role of a mother who's been searching for her lost child for 6 years, she finally gets a lead. This takes us to Chen Village, but not before being taken off the road in a car crash. Incantation is, at its core, a walking sim, with the player having the occasional puzzle to solve to open up a chest. Beyond that, there will be brief...

10 Concept Ideas for Future Dark Pictures Games

The Dark Pictures Anthology has established itself as one of horror gaming’s most compelling experiments. It combines cinematic storytelling, branching narratives with a healthy dose of fatal consequences. Directive 8020 recently emerged from deep space recently and the potential for the series feels broader than ever. Before we begin, a quick disclaimer: I have no knowledge of any future Supermassive Games projects. I also have no "insider" information, and no connection to the studio. I'm just a fan who enjoys watching fictional characters make consistently poor survival decisions. These are concepts I have come up with based on real life events and the possibilities of “what if?” storytelling. Here is how it will work. Each entry includes a quick photoshop concept image, title, setti...

Hollow Body – PS5 Review

The third-person, survival horror game Hollowbody, is making its debut on the console stores. I'll be checking out the PS5 version for you. I don't know what to expect, besides the game being tagged as short, and tech-noir. We do get the option to play either fixed camera or modern third person. For this review I went with modern. If you are looking to pick up Hollowbody, it's currently priced at £12.99 on the PSN Store, or £11.04 with a PS+ subscriber discount until June 5th. I am trying to find Sasha. Gameplay We take control of Mica, a woman who is on the search for her friend Sasha, who went missing. Hollowbody is pretty short, so I won't say much of the story. Most of the gameplay is Mica walking around areas and stumbling across documents or items. Items that you will use elsewh...

It Reaches – PS5 Review

It Reaches is a new body-cam horror game coming to PS5. So, of course, I will be checking it out. The game is developed by Emberflight Games, and has us taking the role of a cop. Who is called out to check out something? It Reaches is out now on the PlayStation Store, and you can purchase it by clicking here. Sorry I'm all thumbs. Gameplay We hit up an old abandoned hospital as Officer Thompson, who is responding to a call. On arrival, and after having a look around he is quickly pulled into what looks to be a long night. As now, Thompson needs to fight, hide, and run away from the various horrors he will encounter in It Reaches. There is combat, but ammo isn't scarce, so there isn't much need to worry about that front. And the only real threats to deal with are these little tree thin...

Directive 8020 – PS5 Review

In space, no one can hear you scream. That may be for the best when it comes to the horrors inside Directive 8020. Developed by Supermassive Games, the game was released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on the 12th May 2026. Supermassive know their cinematic horror, so prepare for the return of branching choices, gruesome deaths and Hollywood faces. The Standard Edition costs £39.99. The Digital Deluxe Edition increases the price to £49.99. So does it get off to an astronomical start, or is it just a waste of space? A Fear Orbit Experience Directive 8020 feels like an unholy union of Alien and The Thing. A cramped spaceship? Check. A hostile shape-shifting threat? Also check. Growing paranoia making every crewmate feel suspicious? Triple check. The setup captures the suffocating tensi...

Necrophosis: Full Consciousness – PS5 Review

The team that brought you The Shore is now releasing their newest title, Necrophosis, on the PS5. With this edition being called Necrophosis: Full Consciousness, and will be priced at £15.99 on the PlayStation Store. I did play the demo a little ways back and loved how it looked, and I'm now here to see the whole product. I think I'm growing a "Consciousness" Gameplay We awake in a small crypt like room with no real clue why we are here. Most of Necrophosis' story is given through dialogue from the entities you meet along your journey, with some extra added context coming via tablets or effigies. Beside the way they put things I think the story was rather easy to understand after you listen to the first couple of beings. For gameplay, the whole thing essentially has you walking around...

Vultures – Scavengers of Death – PC Review

What if you took the classic Resident Evil games, and turned them into a tactical turn-based game. It looks like you'd create Vultures - Scavengers of Death!. Or that's what the game looks like to me. If you want something a little different to other survival horror, then why not pick it up on Steam for £14.99. They also have a supporter pack available that gives you two outfits, one for each character. The soundtrack and art book, all for an extra £4.29. Vultures only appear after something has died Gameplay Vultures - Scavengers of Death, has us controlling to covert operatives that belong to the title named Vultures. The team consists of three characters, with two of them being the field operatives we play. Amber, and Leopoldo, and lastly their brains behind the team Satsuki, who p...
