A Tiny Sticker Tale – Switch Review

A Tiny Sticker Tale is a Casual Puzzle game releasing on the PC and Switch on the 4th October 2023. Developed and published by Ogre Pixel, a six-person indie studio based in México. Combining charming art, cute characters, and a well-realised central sticker mechanic to create a short, though sweet, experience,  A Tiny Sticker Tale is perfect for gamers looking for a cosy time in front of the screen, if a bit short. A Tiny Sticker Tale – A game with a-peel! Ogre Pixel’s latest effort caused a stir on Kickstarter, finding itself fully-funded within two hours! By the end of the campaign, A Tiny Sticker Tale had over 700% of it’s original target, and had found it’s way onto Kickstarter’s “Projects We Love” page. So I was more than interested to take a closer look! Gameplay Our jour...

Paw Patrol World – PS5 Review

Paw Patrol World, by devs 3DClouds and published by Outright Games, has recently landed on all consoles and PC. For all adults with young children, you will be very familiar with not only the theme tune but also the characters' names! "Dad, I can be all the Paw Patrol!" For anyone who has escaped the likes of children's TV and is not aware of the fabulous Paw Patrol, it is an animated TV show that follows the exploits of a team of pups and a boy named Ryder. Together they help keep Adventure Bay safe from Mayor Humdinger's dastardly plans as well as undertake rescue missions. With the recent Paw Patrol Mighty Pups movie released in the cinemas, Paw Patrol fever is not going away for a while. With my 6-year-old leading the way, what would he make of Paw Patrol World? Paleo Pines – Switch Review

Paleo Pines by Northern Ireland-based devs Italic Pig, is a single-player role-playing game set in a time with cute dinosaurs. Available on console and PC, I have been playing, along with my 6-year-old, on the Nintendo Switch. Roarsome Entertainment? With a nod to elements from Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon and Pokemon, would we find this dino-driven social/management sim as captivating? Let's take a look! Gameplay As with most traditional adventure games you begin by creating your character. Here we have a fairly normal but not over-the-top palette to select from including skin tone, eye colour, hairstyle, etc as well as a selection of clothing. You will notice that to keep inclusivity you cannot set a sex and Italic Pigs have described the character as non-binary. My son being 6 ...

Super Bomberman R 2 – PC Review

Super Bomberman R 2 by Konami is the latest release in the Bomberman games. A sequel to the 2017 Super Bomberman R, it is available on all formats. Ready, Steady, Bomb! 6 years on, would this new Bomberman title still bring its historic charm to the gaming world? Let's take a look! Gameplay Super Bomberman R 2 provides both a single-player story mode as well as a single & multiplayer local or online battle mode. My main experiences of Bomberman games growing up have always been the legendary 4 player arena battles. I was happy to see that they were still a feature. When first playing the game you jump into the story mode where you meet the main character, White, along with their 7 other Bomberman friends. The cut scene is very long and arduous as it is very slowly revealed t...

Station To Station – PC Review

Have your tickets ready as we take a look at the railway simulation puzzle game, Station to Station. The debut game from Dutch developer Galaxy Grove aims to deliver cosy vibes through its wonderful voxel art, relaxing soundtrack, and chilled gameplay. Keep Calm And Carriage On I'm fairly partial to a relaxing simulation game and took a keen interest in Station to Station due to previously playing Train Valley. What are your favourite games in the genre? Let me know in the comments. Gameplay It's a vast, unconnected world out there in Station to Station. It's up to you to connect everything. Each level offers a new configuration of mountains and valleys, grass and water, and producers and consumers. To complete a level, all resources must be distributed where they need to go via fr...

Venba – PS5 Review

As far as cooking games go, there's plenty in the market focused solely on re-creating the mechanics of cooking in a step-by-step sequence or on time and resource management challenges. Whilst Venba is at its core a cooking puzzle game, it also brings with it a robust and emotional narrative. This is the debut release from Canadian-based Visai Studios which aim to tell intimate stories through interesting mechanics. Join me below as we take a look at one of my most highly anticipated games of 2023. Venba -  Cooking Amma What's your favourite Indian dish? Sound off with your recipes in the comments! Gameplay The game begins in the 1980s, Venba and Paavalan have recently moved to Canada due to some tension back home in India regarding their relationship. Venba has been feeling unwell...

The Sims 4 Horse Ranch Expansion Pack – PC Review

The development team at Electronic Arts have brought us a new expansion pack that focuses completely on the horse girl community. Players can saddle up and begin their journey to becoming the next riding Champion in The Sims 4 Horse Ranch Expansion Pack. This is available to buy now on Xbox, PlayStation and PC for £34.99. Are you ready to start 'Rootin-Tootin'? I've been eager to play The Sims 4 Horse Ranch Expansion Pack since the trailer first dropped. Now, I wouldn't consider myself a part of the "horse girl" community, however now I've had a taste of it, I can't wait to have more. Watching the likes of lilsimise only solidified this more, and I could not wait to get stuck in. Let me know in the comments if you are enjoying the expansion pack so far, and why.   Gameplay ...

Pile Up! – PC Preview

Pile Up! is a quirky, relaxing, strategic game in which players need to build and create communities to fulfil the requests of the inhabitants. Given only a small piece of land to develop on, this leads to some pretty whacky designs and interesting constructs. But don't get too comfortable, as chilled and relaxed as the game may be, things can quickly fall apart. Pile Up! has been developed by Remoob and published by Next in Game & IndieArk. Hearing about Remoob for the first time? Well, Remoob is a small indie company based in Turkey that aims to develop "games that feel noteworthy... with unique atmospheres". Remoob have a few other games, so be sure to check out their developer page on Steam, or their website if you enjoy this preview. Brick by Brick Each structure advertently ...

Planet of Lana – PC Review

Planet of Lana is the debut game release from Swedish game developers Wishfully Studios which was released in May 2023. Since release the game has been garnering all of the right kinds of attention. Seeing as it is their debut release, big things are yet to come from the game developers in future releases. I got the chance to review the game to offer up my thoughts on the game and whether it's worth a playthrough. Tech Trouble in Paradise Planet of Lana is a side-scrolling platformer at heart. Its design reminds me of the retro games I used to play such as Another World, Flashback, or even Prince of Persia which paved the way for these types of games. Do you like games in this style? What games have you played and why did you love playing them? Let me know in the comments below. Gam...

Dordogne – PS5 Review

Developer Un Je Ne Sais Quoi and Production Company Umanimation bring us the narrative adventure game, Dordogne. Based in the French Department of the same name, Dordogne primarily tells the story of Mimi. Mimi is a 32-year-old woman revisiting her recently deceased grandmother's home in an attempt to recover lost memories of the last summer she spent there 20 years earlier. The inspiration for the game is in part from Game Director and Illustrator Cédric Babouche's own childhood summers spent at his grandmother's house. Babouche, who has worked in animation for 15 years, is exploring video games as a storytelling medium for the first time with Dordogne. He states he was drawn to the medium's relative freedom as opposed to the confines present in developing for TV and cinema. Dordogn...
