Everhood 2 – PC Review

Everhood 2 is an Action, Adventure, RPG that was developed by Foreign Gnomes. This game is the sequel to the previous Everhood. At first, I thought this game was going to almost never reference the previous game, but they do. In a major way that I'm not going to spoil much of what I saw. Yet, I will say this now, that if you have photosensitive epilepsy, you'll have to avoid this game like the plague. In the previous Everhood, Foreign Gnomes had us in the most emotional kung fu grip I have ever been in since Undertale. They started out with us learning how to dodge attacks and survive each encounter passively. Until halfway through when they rip the rug from under you and learn how to do something off script. Once that begins, we're on the emotional rollercoaster until the very end. ...

Atomfall Exclusive Preview

Unless you've been living under a large rock you will have heard of Atomfall, the latest game coming soon from Rebellion. The game is set five years after the Windscale nuclear disaster in Northern England. Inspired by the real-life event.  You have to explore the quarantine zone, barter with people as well as survive to find out just what is going on. Follow The Leads We were incredibly fortunate to be invited to a special press screening and playtest recently. This is what we experienced. Playtest So, a number of other members of the gaming press were introduced to the game through a short presentation by one of the developers. Once that was all done, we were invited to control a PC running Atomfall remotely. Starting my game a bit further into the game than perhaps I should have....

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii – PC Review

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an Action, Adventure, RPG from the great Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. They have developed the entire Yakuza series which has recently been renamed the Like a Dragon series. Their publisher, SEGA has been by their side since the very beginning and has made this series great. I honestly feel like Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio saw that the pirate genre was slowly sinking into the water and said "hold my grog." No matter where and no matter when, Mad Dog Goro Majima is having chaotic fun again. This series has always been a great time when it comes to it's gameplay, mini-games and mechanics. Getting to go back to the original combat system feels right. And it seems that SEGA learned their lesson about paying for New Game +, since that isn't in this game at all. So, ...

Tomb Raider IV – VI Remastered – PS5 Review

The only thing I wanted after reviewing the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Trilogy was a remaster of 4-6. Apsyr apparently heard my prayers and have finally remastered the finale of the original Lara plot as well as Angel of Darkness.  Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered brings back The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider 5 and Angel of Darkness to modern consoles. Controversially, Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness is one of my favourite games and Tomb Raider IV was the first game I ever finished on my own so there was a lot of nostalgia wrapped up in these games. When the games were announced I pre-ordered immediately but was it worth it? Or did the remaster not hit the mark the same way these games originally did? I don't count poison darts and triggered entombment your average child's tea party You can...

Alien: Rogue Incursion – Quest 3 Review

Released last week on the Meta Quest3 and 3S, Alien: Rogue Incursion is a new entry to the iconic franchise. Developed and published by Survios we head into the universe in an immersive, single-player VR journey. Priced at £30.99 on the Meta Store at the time of writing, we check out whether it's worth a purchase. Alien Goes Boo, Stu Goes AHHH! So getting it right out there, I am a scaredy-cat when it comes to horror games. Luckily for me, I'm a big fan of the Alien universe so couldn't pass up this one. Or should that be unluckily for me... Let's find out whether it was all worth it. Gameplay When you first load up the game you get the basic settings to adjust. After this you can head into the game and select which difficulty you want. I went for the Story mode so that I could enjoy...

Snezhinka: Sentinel Girls 2 – Switch Review

Publisher and Developer Hinyari9 is back with Snezhinka: Sentinel Girls 2! Out now on Nintendo Switch, this game is a sequel to Marfusha, and this time, the stakes are higher, the taxes are worse, and the violins are sublime.  Step into the boots of Snezhinka, a contract employee in a dystopian private military company, fending off waves of robotic foes in a desperate bid to survive, get paid (barely), and maybe, just maybe, find your missing sister. But is this high-tempo shooter a must-play, or does the grind drag it down like an over-taxed pay slip? Snezhinka: Sentinel Girls 2 – 2 Girls 1 Mech Before we jump into the nitty-gritty, I want to hear from you! Are you excited for this one? Are you drawn in by the fast-paced shooting, the cyberpunk-inspired setting, or maybe just the idea...

DeTechtive 2112 – PC Review

DeTechtive 2112 is a story-driven action adventure that follows a mystery over a unique array of maps. Created by M11 Studio & 5Deniz, and published by Indie.io, DeTechtive 2112 is available now on Steam for £8.74. However, if you want to experience other work by M11 Studio, bundles with previous games may pique your interest. How will you solve the case? The first game of the year for me to review has me taking the role of a detective in the dystopian future of 2112. So let's get into it. Gameplay DeTechtive 2112 begins by introducing you to the protagonist, Detective Matthew Wallace. Instantly you are drawn to the secrets Matthew may be hiding, as he is confronted as soon as the game begins. After collecting back your belongings, you are then thrown into the cases that make y...

Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel – PC Early Access Preview

Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is a roguelite horde survival game by Games Farm (Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms) and ARTillery (Catie in Meowmeowland). It is available now in Early Access with publishing by Grindstone (Preserve, Die by the Blade). You can pick it up for PC on either Steam or Epic for about £8.50. Raise Hell against the Hordes of Hel in Jotunnslayer A driving factor for me these days when looking at games on Steam is "Can I play it on my Steam Deck?" Having a portable library of quality PC games has definitely been a boon. Among those games, Vampire Survivors, Halls of Torment, and Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor reign supreme. Looking at the trailer for Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel it got me thinking that this could be another addition to that set. I will tell you right now that I'm...

NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black – PS5 Review

Wow, KOEI TECMO, First Dynasty Warriors and now a stealth drop for NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black. It returns with a new engine and newer, better visuals. Once again, step into the tabi (shoes) of Ryu Hayabusa. As he aims to stop the return of the Great Archfiend at any cost. If you’re looking for a fun and challenging hack & slash game, then you can pick it up on the PSN store for £39.99. A side note for those unaware they did also announce NINJA GAIDEN 4. Warning! This article contains GIFs with flashing images. Those of the Dragon lineage are not so easily forgotten. I have played the franchise NINJA GAIDEN before and specifically this title twice. Once was on PSvita and another time a little more recently with the PS3 Remastered collection. The gameplay is something I enjoy, but the c...

Achilles: Legends Untold – Nintendo Switch Review

As someone who's a huge fan of Achilles mythology, souls-like games and needed more reasons to use my Nintendo Switch, I was very excited to be able to get my hands on Achilles: Legends Untold. Initially released in 2022, the game released by Dark Point Games SA came to Switch this January and tells the story of Achilles following his story through the battle of Troy where he's meant to face his destiny. Currently available on the Switch Store for £13.99 - is it worth adding to your Steam library? I've sunk a fair few hours (and ships) into the game to give you some insight. Telling the Untold Legend one chapter at a time Gameplay The story of Achilles has been done so many times and very rarely can you find something that does it different. With Achilles: Legends Untold, the devs ...
