Homura Hime – PC Review

Homura Hime is an action game from developers Crimson Dusk and publishing company PLAYISM. As this is their first game, Crimson Dusk jump into the gaming scene with quite an impressive offering. From the combat and parrying mechanics, to the beautiful and amazing character designs, this game checks every box on my list. But, with every good thing there are slight flaws. However, it is a bit early to talk about that. Fun fact: Homura Hime literally translates to 'Flame Princess'. Floating Swords and Bullet Hell Parry Adventures. Gameplay We play as titular character Hormura Hime, the Flame Princess who is the strongest exorcist of all time. Hormura works with the top shrine maiden, who assists with shooting from a distance. Oddly, she can transform into a device that she crafted to be ...

Solateria PC Review

Solateria is an Action, Adventure Metroidvania from the creative minds at Studio Doodal. With publishing assistance from Shinsegae Information. Solateria has the look and feel of Hollow Knight, but with a heavy lean into parrying. Yes, I know what you're thinking. This is the second game in a row that has the Protag being fire based. With leaning hard on parrying being the main mechanic. The game is actually a blazing time that would have you learn your enemy's pattern and timing. Almost like a Souls like game since executing a perfect parry brings in more damage. So grab yourself the energy of your choice of energy drink and remember the golden rule when attempting Metroidvania bosses. Get some sleep and try again another day. If I had a nickel for how many games I'd review this that...

PIGFACE – PC Early Access Preview

While on Steam I was looking for a new FPS game, with some grungy visuals. And luckily I came across PIGFACE, published by DreadXP, and created by Titolovesyou, comes an ultra-violent shooter. Where we take down gangs, by any mean necessary. PIGFACE is currently in early access on Steam for £8.50, which is not that bad of a price. Murder has been served. Gameplay We play as a character, whose name I think is called Exit. Who awakes in an old rundown building with no recollection of why she is here. The player quickly finds out that a bomb has been surgically implanted into Exit's head. And must now fulfil missions for a secret team. After finish the tutorial the player is sent to an apartment where you can, take on missions, or change their appearance. So far there is not a lot in PIG...

Rogue Point – PC Early Access Preview

Rogue Point is a new tactical roguelite FPS from the creators of Black Mesa, Crowbar Collective. With publishing by Team17 (a lot of games), this solo or co-op experience is available now in Early Access. You can pick it up only on Steam. Go Roguelite on that FPS Rogue Point certainly gives off a unique vibe. A cross between a tactical FPS and a roguelite was enough to interest me. But can it hit the best points of each genre? Find out in this early access look below. Gameplay A co-op, tactical roguelite FPS is the best way I can categorize Rogue Point. It combines aspects from several genres and blends them nicely into a stand-out product. With up to 3 others, start up a campaign, select your loadout and drop into various different missions against a band of thugs for hire. Rog...

EVERDARK: Undead Apocalypse – PC Review

If you are looking for your next survival horror, then why not check out EVERDARK: Undead Apocalypse? It aims to blend fast-paced action, with survival horror, all with a nice classic 80s tone. Well, that is what it says on the Steam page. It will cost you £16.99, and there is a comic you can buy too for £3.99. Night of the living... eh? Gameplay EVERDARK is a challenging game with its main focus on survival horror. Supplies are scarce and melee weapons break after several hits so it is best to take caution. Since we are fighting Vampires the player is only able to stun when dealing damage. This is quickly resolved when getting the stake from an NPC early on. The story itself has us placed in the shoes of a random guy, who is pulled into a nightmarish night. And must save the world fr...

Resident Evil: Requiem – PS5 Review

He's better, bigger, stronger and prettier than ever. Leon Kennedy returns in Resident Evil: Requiem the latest addition in the class Capcom horror/action series. Currently available on the Playstation Store for £64.99, can Requiem live up to its predecessors? How the hell do you get back to Racoon City? Gameplay Resident Evil Requiem immediately goes against the established RE curve by allowing the player to choose their POV. In an attempt to combine the nostalgia of the over the shoulder shots with the first person horror that appeared in Biohazard, Capcom let you personalise your experience from the menu. It recommends playing Grace's story from 1st person whilst using the over-the-shoulder camera for Leon. You can swap and change these settings as you go through the game depending...

Styx: Blades of Greed – PS5 Review

Styx: Blades of Greed is a third-person stealth-action RPG adventure developed by Cyanide Studio and published by Nacon. The game is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, starting February 19th. Weaponized Goblin Mode In this third entry of the franchise, players return as Styx, a cunning goblin thief with a particular set of skills, including silently infiltrating castles, eluding enemies' sight, and executing hushed assassinations in a smart mix of stealth and strategy. Styx first appeared as the smaller half of a smash-and-stealth duo in Of Orcs and Men (2012). He was obviously the stealth portion of that tag team. Since then, the little green gobbo has continued his mischievous adventures by himself in Styx: Master of Shadows (2014) and Styx: Shards of Darkness (2017). No...

ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN PC Review

ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN an Action Adventure game from the most creative minds at Grasshopper Manufacture (Suda51). The same company that has created some the most beloved cult classic games like the No More Heroes series, Killer 7 and Lollipop Chainsaw. Even the games for animes such as Samurai Champloo and Blood + craftly made from this amazing company. The first exposure to Suda51's creative madness was actually when my cousins were playing Killer 7. And the rest was history to be frank. The rule of thumb when playing a Grasshopper game is to never think you can predict their next move. Gameplay ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN is about...well Romeo. A deputy sheriff that while checking the body in the middle of the road got a severe injury. An injury that cost him his life, but thanks to his grandf...

Dynasty Warriors: Origins – Vision of Four Heroes – PS5 Review

I am excited to be playing Dynasty Warriors: Origins' new DLC, Visions of Four Heroes. Here is hoping for more epic battles, and maybe a more in-depth look into the four heroes we will see. I have already reviewed the base game, so why not check out my thoughts on that. The DLC is available on PlayStation 5 for £28.99. Oh boy, that seems a little steep. Gifs used in this article may contain flashing. A Tiger Among Dragons. Gameplay The Vision of Four Heroes gives us four mini what-if campaigns. That show the player what would have happened if Zhang Jiao, Dong Zhou, Yuan Shao, or Lu Bu, had not fallen in battle. You start the DLC via your room in the Inn. Zhang Jiao's is first, but once his story is told, you are able to choose the other three in whatever order you please. I opted f...
