Are you in the market for a new controller? Fancy something from a company you may not have heard of? Well, you could do worse than check out the PXN P5 Wireless Gaming Controller. Coming in at around £30, it’s pretty well-priced in the hardware market. The real question is what can it do for that price?
Controller, Ready!
Coming in a white and black colourway, this is a 2025 update for the controller. So let’s find out why this controller might be exactly what you are searching for.
Design
There is a lot of good to say about the design of the PXN P5. Mostly because it takes queues from other existing controllers on the market. With asymmetric sticks, A, B, X, and Y face buttons, a round D-pad, as well as a bunch of other PC / Switch-specific buttons. All beautifully wrapped up in a black and grey offering. With an anti-slip texture on the grips, and a couple of extra buttons on the backside of the controller. Everything sounds pretty good so far, especially for the price point.

It features a nice, sizeable 1000mAh rechargeable battery that is charged with the included USB cable. You have a comfortable controller, that lasts for quite a while. There’s no flashy RGB, or extra weights for you to put into the grips. It is just pure feature-packed controller goodness.
Features
This section is where a lot of the justification of price comes into play. With the controller being relatively cheap, however, I see all these features as bonuses.
Starting with the Hall Effect thumbsticks, meaning you get a more precise and responsive controller. With the potential for stick drift eliminated due to the non-contact transmission of information. With an adjustable dead zone switch you can adjust the controller depending on what game you are playing. Helping with the precision is the 1000Hz polling rate, meaning the controller speaks to the dongle / switch at a higher rate than other gaming controllers. With highly responsive triggers with a switch to flip between hair triggers and standard triggers. Perfect for racing or shooting games alike.

The PXN P5 is also compatible with the Nintendo Switch. However, this does bring about a bit of a strange situation. The buttons are in the wrong place, but they aren’t at the same time. It’s hard to explain, basically the A button is where the B button would be on a Switch controller. However, it still works as the A button. Maybe mislabelled would be a better description. Either way it takes a little getting used to.
Macros
There are 4 extra buttons on the rear of the PXN P5, with them being configured to have macros opens up these buttons to be incredibly helpful. Do you have a predetermined set of buttons to press for a particular game? Then these might be perfect for you. With up to 32 button recordings, all configured in the app, it gives so much freedom to express yourself in your game.
If you download the app there is so much more settings that you can change. From the trigger settings to vibration settings and dead zones.
Oh and did I forget to mention that there are also motion controls when you are using this with the Nintendo Switch?
Final Thoughts
For only £30 (ish) you would be fooled into thinking this was a basic controller. When really it is anything but. In fact it’s now part of my general gaming setup, taking over from the Nintendo Pro controllers and my old PC controller. With so many features its well worth your hard-earned money.
The PXN P5 Wireless Gaming Controller gets the Thumb Culture Gold Award.
