Do you enjoy dancing your heart out? Then, Just Dance 2025 may be the game for you! Developed and published by Ubisoft, it is the sixteenth instalment in the main Just Dance series. Just Dance 2025 is already out on Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S as of the 15th.

Get your dancing shoes on!

As the name of the game suggests, you just need to dance. Whether good or bad at dancing, the game caters to your ability. Have you played any of the Just Dance series games? Let me know in the comments how Just Dance 2025 compares to the rest of the 16 instalments.

Gameplay

Just Dance 2025 follows the same pattern as its predecessor, with the addition of several new enhancements. It continues to expand on being a light hearted gameplayer experience. Making exercise fun, whilst also enabling the ability to connect with friends and family. Like with previous instalments, there are 40 new and fun songs added to the roster. There is something for everyone, with a variety of genres. And there are plenty of trending hits from today’s streaming charts, making it more than relevant.

Damn, she has flair!

The difficulty of the dances is completely dependent on the player. You can choose your challenge, with a variety of difficulty. Some songs have difficulties that are specific to that song. While others offer the ability to choose between difficulties. Regardless of the chosen difficulty, the aim is to earn enough points to get the elusive 5 stars. However, if you are as good as a veteran like me, it is the superstar and megastar level that you should be aiming for.

Are you a megastar?

The UI system has been transferred over from Just Dance 2024. Focusing on a stream-like home page. It offers robust search tools for players to curate their sessions. The choices are from difficulty level to mood or genre of music. It makes filtering through the games’ vast library of songs easier. This is particularly relevant when you consider that it offers cross-compatibility. This is seen through two different mediums. Firstly, if you own a game on a different device on the same profile, this becomes transferable to all devices. Secondly, players who own earlier versions of the Just Dance games now can access those songs through Just Dance 2025. Saving you from having to change games.

What song will you choose?

Like previous Just Dance games, Just Dance 2025 allows up to six players. Those who don’t have access to extra controllers use their phones as a means of getting in on the fun. This is surely the best thing about Just Dance, where they are helping you join in on the fun, without taking a massive hit to your budget. There are also initial moves into offering accessibility, with the inclusion of a few songs for players to play while seated. Options remain limited for those with physical disabilities, however, they are making a step in the right direction.

Graphics & Audio

As I’m in no way a choreographer, I cannot comment on the dances itself. However, I will say the production of each song has skyrocketed as the years have gone on. Especially the coaches costumes and the backgrounds of the songs. Each chosen set design is perfect for the song choice. This is particularly evident in “Basket Case” by Green Day, where it seems perfectly crazy. The art style throughout is spectacular and varied.

What is Scuba Steve doing there?

Accuracy in regard to the dances varies, based on things such as lighting and positioning. This is something I have seen over the years become more and more accurate. However, if there are more players, this can of course decrease the accuracy. One of the main issues I had with the UI system was that it could become laggy. Switching between songs too fast would cause an issue with the interface. Thankfully this did not happen too often, but it was definitely noticeable.

Longevity

When it comes to Just Dance, you can never really “complete” the game. This is especially true with the use of Just Dance + . Every addition of the game comes with a 1 month free trial to the subscription service. Discover hundreds of songs, with more coming regularly. These may be all-time favourites from previous additions, or new exclusive ones. A years’ subscription to Just Dance + will cost an additional £19.99. However, for the amount of additional content, I believe it is worth it.

In addition to this, the use of themed seasonal events adds continuous fun. These events add new and exciting songs, as well as a dedicated progression track and new rewards. There is certainly plenty to offer to keep the fun going all year round.

Final Thoughts

I have adored Just Dance games since I was dancing to “Poker Face” by Lady Gaga from Just Dance 2014. It is a game I tend to buy most years and something that me and my younger sister bond over. Just Dance 2025 is no exception to this. The first thing I did was invite my sister over to play. I would implore you to buy this year’s version, whether this be to play by yourself or with friends and family.

I will therefore be awarding Just Dance 2025 with the Thumb Culture Gold Award.
