I’m going to start this review with this: yes, we got hold of a pink mouse. The great people over at Fantech got back in touch and offered us their new mouse, the Fantech Tanto S.

Another day, but not just another mouse!

With new peripherals like this come new responsibilities. That’s the line, isn’t it? Until recently, we hadn’t heard much about the Fantech product line, but I am glad they dropped into our inbox. They are a brand that brings affordable, but decent-quality peripherals to you. So, just what does that mean for this new mouse? Shall we move on and find out?

Design

You could be mistaken in thinking that this is just another generic mouse. Whilst it may look like that, with its ambidextrous design, it really isn’t generic. Featuring a standard button layout, with two buttons on the side that can be used for whatever you want. Whether you like to use a claw, fingertip or palm style grip, the Fantech Tanto S ensures lasting comfort with an incredibly well-balanced mouse.

On top of that, the mouse itself only weighs 58G, coming into the ultra-lightweight class. Personally I like a bit of heft in my mouse, but using the Tanto S was a joy. Its lightweight gave the perfect balance between weight and build quality. I was shocked to find out that Fantech even said they could make the mouse lighter. Madness!

Shiny, Shiny

Included in the box is an RGB Charging Dock. Allowing you to ditch the usual dongle for connecting to your PC. Whilst helping you keep your mouse fully charged and ready to go. Just place it on the dongle and the magnets do their thing.

Features

The design is only one half of what a mouse does, the other is obviously the features. Thankfully, the Fantech Tanto S has some pretty good features. You also have to bear in mind that all these features are bundled into a mouse that costs less than £50. Actually, at the time of writing, you can pick this mouse up from the Fantech website for £40. Which, in my opinion, is an astounding price. No pink tax in sight here either, as all colourways cost exactly the same!

Using the bundled RGB dock, you are greeted with an 8K polling rate. Which gives this mouse incredible accuracy for all those fast-twitch shooters. This is usually a feature that comes with other, more expensive mice, so to include that feature in this piece of hardware is pretty impressive.

Plugged in and getting ready for action

Now, one of the important parts of the mouse tech is the DPI, giving you more accuracy. The Fantech Tanto S goes all the way up to 26,000! An impressive number, to say the least.

Moving towards the action part of the mouse, the switches are the impressive Huano Transparent Green Shell White Dot switches. Long name, I know! What they offer is a satisfying tactile click with a lifespan of up to 100 million clicks. Perfect for those extended gaming sessions, these switches will keep up with whatever you throw at them.

Final Thoughts

So, what is the summary of the Fantech Tanto S? Well, it’s pretty impressive. For the price you pay, you get a lot of features. Being able to switch between Bluetooth, wired and wireless at the flick of a switch just gives the mouse the ability to adjust to your own setup. Which just all adds towards how easy it is to recommend this mouse.

The Fantech Tanto S gets the Thumb Culture Gold Award.
