0 Edifier is making another appearance here at Thumb Culture, this time with the Edifier W830NB Wireless Headphones. Featuring Bluetooth connectivity, noise cancellation, and various audio controls via the side of the headphones, I’m excited to jump in and test these headphones out!
Sleek Design
In true edifier fashion, the Edifier W830NB Wireless Headphones design is sleek and minimalist. Maintaining a stylish yet classy look. The Edifier logo is on both outward sides of the headphones in gold, contrasting well against the black colouring. Despite the gold logo, it doesn’t look garish and is quite subtle. The headphones are currently available in black, grey or sand white.
In terms of comfort, the headphone’s headband is adjustable to suit the wearer as standard. The padding on the bar at the top of the headphones is very thick but incredibly soft and squishy, doing well to prevent any friction. This same padding is on the earphones and felt comfortable to wear. The earphones also rotate outwards, allowing the user further adjustments for their comfort.
Features & Setup
The Edifier W830NB Wireless Headphones have multiple features for ease of use and comfort. Connecting the headphones to a device is simple; just activate the headphone’s Bluetooth, then the device’s, pair, and you’re set! The version 5.4 Bluetooth allows for a stronger anti-interference, general connection and consumes less power.
I primarily used these for music, in which the headphones have a few nifty tricks up its sleeves. While featuring standard volume buttons, there’s also a pause button. Besides that, holding the volume buttons will either skip the song backwards or forwards.
This was a feature that took me by surprise and ended up enjoying since it felt good to manage my music without the need to get my phone out. It feels like the perfect headphones for any time you want to jam out to music without messing with your phone too much.
A USB-C charging cable comes in the box with the headphones, though you’ll need a USB plug to charge it. It takes about 1.5 hours to charge and lasts between 54 to 94 hours with continuous use.
While it was pretty straight-forward for me to figure out, the included instructions are clear and concise.
Noise Cancellation & Audio Quality
The Edifier W830NB Wireless Headphones thoroughly impressed me with their noise cancelling capabilities. With up to -45db noise reduction, I had to test them out. I had my brother shout at me while I listened to music, and I could only hear a mumble of what he said. If these headphones had no problem blocking out shouting in the same room, it’s no contest for a noisy bus or a busy gym.
The audio quality is also outstanding. It didn’t seem to muffle or distort any audio even at very high volumes, and it sounds crystal clear.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I think the Edifier W830NB Wireless Headphones are an impressive set of headphones. Their design is basic but sleek, the audio quality is excellent, and the noise cancellation is the star of the show for me. I think these headphones are best suited for people looking to use them in noisy environments.
My only small gripe with these headphones is their pricing. Even though they’re brilliant, I believe the £79.99 price is just a little steep for the average person’s budget.
Especially since I don’t know how hard wearing they are (through working out and travel for example) or how long they’d last, it’s hard to say if they’re worth the investment. The performance is superb, but I can’t justify the price based on longevity.
