When the PR for Edifier reached out and asked if we wanted to check out the QD35. I thought to myself, why would we want to check out a desktop speaker that was released back in 2023. That was until I checked it out on their website. I was left awestruck, a beauty of engineering, with a pretty decent spec sheet to boot. So I said yes, and within a few days, I was banging out tunes using the Edifier QD35 Speaker.

The Lights Are On…

A sleek, transparent speaker with two black drivers, featuring intricate internal wiring design, set on a textured surface.

Design

As you can see, the design of the Edifier QD35 is certainly unique, with its futuristic-looking inlay, featuring a 3″ mid-bass driver and a 1″ tweeter. It looks the part on any desk, table, or even the floor.

Flip the speaker around, and you are greeted with a number of ports. The standard charging port is there, however you also have an Aux port and a USB port for connecting other devices. Either side of the plugs has two holes, these are for the Air Noise Suppression technology, designed to reduce any resonance that might be evident. All aiming towards giving you the cleanest sound possible.

Topping off the design is the RGB element. Customisable using the Edifier Connect app, the Edifier QD35 can be the centrepiece of any party. Choosing from a number of options allows you to get the speaker to fit any setup that you might have.

Features

The Edifier QD35 is feature-packed, with a frequency response of between 60Hz and 40kHz; this speaker can handle it all. We spent some time in the garden making use of the Bluetooth range, which I have to say was greater than 10 metres. Allowing me to control the soundtrack of the TC Mini Crew playing in the Teepee in the garden.

One of the nicest features is the feature of TurboGaN High-efficiency charging. Now, whilst this may sound like a bunch of buzzwords, what it does mean is that you can use the onboard circuitry to charge any number of devices. Just plug them into the side USB ports, and away you go. Charge while you listen. It’s especially handy if you are using a mobile phone to connect via Bluetooth.

From a sound point of view the Edifier QD35 easily fills the room with beautiful sound. Making use of a powerful digital amplifier and a DSP chipset, it divides the sound signal into the treble and mid-bass. Ensuring that the right sound gets pushed to the correct speaker. With a total output of up to 40W RMS, it’s a great accompaniment at any party or gathering.

Performance

I absolutely love this little speaker. It will be coming with me whenever I go away, just to ensure that if I want to listen to music, I get a great quality experience. Now don’t get me wrong that does all depend on what service you use. Personally I use Spotify and whilst I know that it doesn’t have hi-res audio as an option right now, it still sounds incredible. Thankfully, the speaker supports a number of high-resolution audio signals. Either through the USB ports, or using the Bluetooth V5.3 and your mobile device.

Final Thoughts

So, how do I feel about the Edifier QD35? Well, I think if you’ve read the rest of this article, you will get the idea. If you skipped straight to this section, then firstly, why? All the hard work doing the rest of the words and all you want is this bit. But secondly, it’s a great little Bluetooth speaker. It sits proudly in the living room during normal days. At weekends, it ventures out into the outside world. Ready to entertain and bring joy to people everywhere.

The Edifier QD35 Bluetooth Speaker gets the Thumb Culture Gold Award.
