Cable Guys Cuddle Team Leader Holdem Review

I am Cuddle Team Leader fan, and this extends outside the virtual world of Fortnite too. From Mecha Team Leader LEGO to Cuddle Team Leader Crocs. If it’s inspired by Cuddle Team Leader, I want it. So, as you can imagine, when the Cable Guys Cuddle Team Leader Holdem landed on my desk I was very excited.

A Different Kind Of Bear

I have been the Thumb Culture go to for Cable Guy product reviews for a little while now. Meaning I’ve got hands on with a few new product releases. In a change of events the Cuddle Team Leader Holdem is not actually available yet. Instead it’s currently up for pre-order, for £18 on the EXG Pro website.

So let’s take a look to see if it’s worth the load time.

Specs

If you missed my other Cable Guys reviews, then you may not know the key specifications of a Holdem. They are all created equal, in theory. Each one comes in a box that doubles up as a display stand and stands at around 4″ tall. Designed to hold your phone, earbuds or other small tech trinkets. These functional figures come in just about all your favourite characters from movies to games. Meaning there is just about one for every fandom looking for that sweet sweet merch. And the Cuddle Team Leader Holdem is no different.

Design

As this is a fully licensed Fortnite product you expect the quality to be high. And it is. This Cuddle Team Leader Holdem has a more cartoon design with the figure not being tall and slender like the in-game skin. However this works. The molding of the figure is a lot better than the Sonic versions I previously reviewed, there are no blemishes or warped pieces. In terms of colours it’s exactly what you would want from this cute assassin. Bright pink with those creepy mask eyes you know are watching you. Or your things. Actually, yes, let’s go with them looking protectively over your things.

This functional figure is sturdy and wobble resistant, which is just what you want when balancing some of your precious trinkets within their plastic arms. Just take a look at the range of things I balanced on the arms of Cuddle Team leader, and just how perfectly she cradled them.

Packaging

A big bug bear of mine with the Holdem range from Cable Guys has always been the packaging. The use of the packaging as a display stand is nice from an environmental viewpoint, but in practise it just doesn’t work. The figures themselves are often hard to get out the box and cause the display area to tear. Not to mention the display stands take up so much more room than the Holdems themselves. Let alone the fact the Holdems have interlocking bases which make the cardboard display stands quite redundant.

The Cuddle Team Leader Holdem actually avoids the unboxing faff. It isn’t sealed in with tear away cardboard in the same way as previous products have been. This meant once I’d taken the outer sleeve off, the figure came right out. No fighting with cardboard. And even better no breakages of either the cardboard or figure!

Final Thoughts

I would forgive you for thinking that I may be biased in this review. Afterall this is my all time favourite Fortnite character. But I’m actually not biased for this exact reason. I don’t just want merch of my girl, I want good merch. Even if it costs under £20, no one wants a figure that will just fall apart do they?

Let me tell you, if I hadn’t have been sent this figure I would have bought it. And I wouldn’t have regretted it either. The Cuddle Team Leader Holdem looks great on my shelf of Fortnite nerdery, and it will look great on yours too. This is a fun figure that looks good and even better it can hold stuff. Even if that stuff is just various versions of themselves. Ahem.
