IGN Executive Editor Ryan McCaffrey has announced via a post on his Twitter page that Alan Wake 2 will be the IGN First “cover story” game for September 2023.

Anticipating Alan Wake 2

Detailing that they will have great coverage of the anticipation survival horror sequel he went on to drop a new 11-minute gameplay video from the game.

The gameplay shown is from an early mission played from the perspective of FBI Agent Saga Anderson as she arrives in the small town of Watery. The description on the video gives the following info on the location:

The town itself was founded by Finnish settlers who arrived in the American Pacific Northwest and may even be home to a familiar face to fans of Remedy’s other games

Looking Impressive

The gameplay footage shows off a slick, clean UI. The HUD is minimal and unobtrusive. The visuals are impressive with textures, lighting, particle effects, and animations all coming together to deliver some impressive results. The game should look even more impressive when in the hands of players. YouTube compression/artifacts need to be taken into account here.

Are you impressed by what you see? Let us know in the comments. I for one can’t wait to see how it looks on my LG OLED TV.

Alan Wake 2 comes to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 27th.
