SCUF are a manufacturer of gaming controllers, and have been for some time. So you can imagine how pleased we were when they reached out and offered their newest controller for us to test out. I present to you, the SCUF Omega, officially licensed for the PlayStation 5, but, also compatible with your PC. Retailing at around £209.99 and available in 14 different colours. Yes 14! Each colour has its own codename, we got hold of the Smoke variant. A nice translucent clear-grey controller.
This SCUF doesn’t leave a mark!
So, why should you spend so much cash on what is essentially a fancy controller? Well, I’ll lay out the facts, give you all the information that you need before you have to decide.
Design Features
If you have heard of a SCUF controller before, then you’ll know what they are most famous for. Those extra buttons, the paddles. So let’s take a look at just what the SCUF Omega brings to the table. With four rear paddles and then two side action buttons on this controller, you are never far from whatever button it is that you need to press. Each of the paddles can be mapped to any input using the SCUF App. Giving you full control, you can get the setup perfect for whatever game you are playing. The side action buttons are similar; however, I did find that I accidentally pressed them regularly.

If you don’t want the paddles, but you want to keep using the controller. Included in the box are blanking pieces, allowing you to remove the buttons and keep the streamlined setup. Keeping the streamlined aesthetic, the controller has a performance grip. The textured surface helps keep the controller safe in your hands, keeping control to give yourself every chance of winning, even in the most high-pressure moments.
All the switches on the SCUF Omega are made up of Omron mechanical switches. Ensuring that fast actuation and long-term durability, with each press as crisp as the next. The Triggers have an adjustable switch, letting you change the behaviour depending on the game you are playing. If you are playing a shooter, then you are going to want that ultra-short activation, or if you are playing a racing game, you might want the full range of movement.

It’s All In The Thumbs
The Thumbsticks on the SCUF Omega use non-contact magnetic sensors. Ensuring that the movement stays as pure as possible. Reducing the physical wear of a traditional analogue mechanism. The thumbsticks can also be calibrated using the app, changing the dead zones as well as the input curves. In the box, you get a number of interchangeable thumbsticks, shorter ones offering faster movement and quicker turns. Or the longer ones allow an increase in the range of motion for more precise gameplay.

To reduce weight, the controller has no vibration motors in it. So if you enjoy the vibration when you are playing, then this might not be the controller for you. However, it does provide a comfortable controller for long gaming sessions. With a great controller with plenty of battery life, you are always going to enjoy using this controller.
Final Thoughts
The SCUF Omega is a great controller in pretty much every way. The most difficult step of buying or not buying is the price. You might be able to justify the price, and if you do, you are going to be treated to one of the best controllers out there. With features for days, and with it being officially licensed, you know that it’s going to have the innards that make the Dual Sense controllers the epitome of quality.
The SCUF Omega receives the Thumb Culture Platinum Award.
