2025 is almost over and if you’ve been feeling your life has been lacking in Ghost Pokémon themed tech, well I have good news. That’s right today I’ve got a review of the new Razer Cobra Gengar Edition mouse and Razer Gigantus V2 XXL Gengar Edition mouse mat. Well, new to the global market that is!

If you cast your mind back to September, you will have seen I got my hands on the Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Gengar Edition headset. Well I’m back with more of the Razer Gengar collection to review and I could not be more excited. Whilst we’re still waiting on the keyboard to be available outside of Asia, this mouse and mouse mat from Razer go a long way to complete your favourite chunky ghost themed set up.

Whilst the title of this review focuses solely on the Razer Cobra Gengar Edition, but why do just review a mouse when you can include it’s matching mat too?! So here you’ll find not only my thoughts on the Cobra but also the Razer Gigantus V2 XXL Gengar Edition. Now, let’s get into it.

Do I have a type? Yes, it’s ghosts.

Razer Cobra Gengar Edition

First up in this review we have the Razer Cobra Gengar Edition mouse. Retailing at £65 on the Razer website, I won’t lie to you this does have a £30 mark up when compared to the plain black model with no technical upgrades. It’s also actually about £5 more expensive than the yellow Pokémon edition too. Which seems a bit odd, given they are both from the same franchise, but there we are.

Design

The Razer Cobra Gengar Edition is a design first mouse. It isn’t a technically fancy mouse, but it is a good looking one! I love that the art work isn’t just one big Gengar on the front. Instead you have two mischievous ghosties on the left and right hand buttons, with the body of the mouse being the Ghost Type icons and Poké Balls mixed around a purple setting. You can tell this is a mouse for the fans, but it hasn’t been overdone. Of course I would be remis to not mention the Razer Chroma on this mouse, which makes the razer logo glow whilst also producing a pretty gradient under glow. No of course you don’t have to stick with the pre-set purple, although I would ask why not?! If you do however want to change the RGB settings, just head to the Razer Chroma app and you can choose from around 16.8 million colourways and countless lighting effects!

Features

Coming in at 58g this right-handed symmetrical mouse is lightweight and feels comfortable, both during the long work day and big gaming sessions! The PTFE mouse feet really help with this as the mouse easily moves smoothly across any surface. Lessening that wrist fatigue! Whilst this is a wired mouse it does have a nice cord length of 1.9 meters. It’s also a Speedflex cable, which is just Razer’s fancy way of saying a braided cord that doesn’t drag along your desk or mouse mat.

Razer Gigantus V2 XXL Gengar Edition

Moving on to the Razer Gigantus V2 XXL Gengar Edition. This is essentially a really big mouse mat. In fact when I first opened it I was bit afraid it wouldn’t fit my desk. Hence having to use my partner’s desk for some initial photos you can see below! This big mouse mat also comes with a big price tag, retailing at £55 on the Razer website. Which is not even as much as I’ve paid for 3 desk mats I’ve bought in the past! However none of those have featured a giant Gengar poking their tongue out. Nor have they had a pretty ombre pattern featuring the Ghost Type Pokémon icon and Poké Balls.

Gengar is known for being a chonky boi and like I said this mouse mat is no different. It measures 94cm in length, and 41cm in width, and is only available in this XXL size. The textured micro-weave cloth surface is 4mm thick. Made from high-density rubber foam, with an anti-slip base I can confirm once this is on your desk it is not moving. Believe me I tried!

The Set

This is the section of the review where you need to indulge me dear reader. This is purely a section to share these photos, because I just love seeing the gang altogether. Minus the matching keyboard. Which I’m still hoping makes it over here.

Final Thoughts

Whilst I love the designs of these, for me this comes down to price. Is the Razer Cobra Gengar Edition really worth £65? No. Does it look hella cool? Yes. Is the Razer Gigantus V2 XXL Gengar Edition really worth paying £55 for? Again no. But again there is no denying it does look really cool.

For looks alone the Razer Cobra Gengar Edition and Razer Gigantus V2 XXL Gengar Edition get the Thumb Culture Gold Award. But I’d wait until they go on sale to grab them.
