0 Now you may remember last month I shared a news piece about the opening of pre-orders for the The Metal Gear Solid: The Orange Box TUBBZ (First Edition) and I’m very lucky in that I got sent one to review. My household seems to have developed a bit of thing around ducks and rubber duckies at the moment. I don’t know where it came from, or quite why the hyperfixation has landed so heavily on them, but thanks to TUBBZ the love of ducks, gaming and pop culture can combine in the form of awesome collectibles.
Making a Tactical Splash
As with all TUBBZ products this is of course, an officially licensed collectible. The Metal Gear Solid: The Orange Box TUBBZ (First Edition) has the recognisable Numskull Designs take on a PVC duck. Or at least their bill does. I’ll be honest the whole thing just feels fun. I was surprised at how well made it felt too. It would be easy for a cardboard box figure to feel less than high quality, but this is the best feeling box I’ve ever run my fingers over. Not that I have a habit of doing so, but we’ve all had those collectibles that have a slightly tacky/sticking feel to the plastic and don’t feel as though they were worth the money. Luckily this is not one of those. Just smooth premium PVC here!

Now whilst TUBBZ First Editions usually come in their own special bathtub, this little fella is a little different. Well you can’t expect a cardboard box to withstand a bath surely?! Instead this duck comes in just a branded box. I say just, but it’s fully branded up and would look great alongside other boxed PVC/vinyl figures you may have on your self. Really make it pop! Ahem. TUBBZ collectors don’t despair however, as this First Edition still comes with the usual base print and sticker.
The Metal Gear Solid: The Orange Box TUBBZ (First Edition) is limited edition and once it sells out, that’s it! So if you want to grab one, I’d recommend doing so asap before the TUBBZ website sells out. Because I’d be surprised if this didn’t sell out.
Final Thoughts
If you’re a Metal Gear Solid fan this is fun collectible for your shelves, desk or wherever you may have your little trinkets. The £20 price tag is decent and the quality of the figure makes that price point even better. There are a lot worse things you could spend £20 on! I know I probably bought them at one point or another…
