Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you may well see the whole host of announcements that Razer have been putting out there. This one has been out a little while, but we were lucky enough to get to check out the Blackwidow V4 Low-Profile Hyperspeed keyboard. Wow, what a title! We’ve been making use of this one for the past few weeks, and I will say it’s been a great keyboard to get to know. What makes it worth its £199.99 price tag, though? Well, let me help you with that.
Blackwidow By Name Only
So with all Razer keyboards, there are always a whole host of features. A lot of them, you might be wondering what they mean, and I’m going to do my best to highlight the top features of the keyboard for you. No fluff and straight to the point. So let’s go!
Design Features
First thing to mention is the build quality of this keyboard. It’s sturdy. With a combination of aluminium and plastic construction, it feels premium. I mean, what do you expect if you drop almost 200 notes on a keyboard? You want something that is going to feel reliable. This keyboard is exactly that! With a number of switches available, you can get the feel that you want. After all, you’re going to make a lot of use of a keyboard, whether you use this for gaming or business.

Being a low-profile keyboard as well, the Blackwidow V4 is incredibly thin. It comes in at less than 20mm, so thinner than a single penny. This gives great feedback when you are typing or using the WSAD keys for Battlefield 6. You really start to notice the keycaps as well. Made tougher and more durable than ABS keycaps, they hold their colour.
Along with the standard keyboard layout, you also get a multi-function roller and 11 control buttons. Giving you the freedom to streamline your workflow by assigning these keys to manage your music, other devices and even a button that fires up an AI prompt. With great power comes great responsibility. Just remember that.
Connectivity
Having dual options for connecting the keyboard to your computer, you can choose either the amazing Hyperspeed Wireless or Bluetooth. Using a Hyperspeed dongle and a compatible mouse, you can connect both to the one dongle. Meaning that you don’t have to make use of more of your ports. And when you might be limited already, this is invaluable.

Loading up the Synapse app, you get further customisation options, giving you full access to the inner workings of the keyboard. The brain, if you will. From there, you can set your macros, you can change the polling rate of the keyboard up to the 4K speeds, making the Blackwidow V4 a speedy boi! One of the best functions that you might need if playing a lot of fast-paced shooters is the Snap Tap. Giving you the option to prioritise the latest input between two selected keys so that you don’t have to release the previous input. Meaning changes in direction are even snappier.
If you are worried about battery life when we talk about a wireless keyboard, don’t be. With a huge battery life of up to 980 hours, it just seems to go on and on. Obviously, you will have to activate the power save mode to get the full battery life, but it’s a worthwhile sacrifice if you really need that extra time. It features a single button press that gives you the current battery status via a highlighted number row. Meaning you will never get caught off guard either.
Final Thoughts
Razer has hit a great note with the Blackwidow V4, with some great features alongside a great sturdy construction. They’ve given this keyboard a certain professionalism, that I absolutely love. The low-profile keys make it a joy to type on and even writing this review has been a joy.
The Razer Blackwidow V4 Low-Profile Hyperspeed keyboard receives the Thumb Culture Gold Award.
