F1 25 – PS5 Review

F1 25 left the paddock on the 30th May, I previewed the game, which you can read here, and I was fortunate enough to receive a code for the Iconic Edition with all the assorted extra content. This review focuses on the PlayStation 5 version of the annual racing series. So, the big question: Has Codemasters delivered a podium finish, or has it crashed into the barrier? Pitt Stop The game includes all the modes you know and love, plus some extra Hollywood action. Tied in with the upcoming movie, you can play scenarios from the film — these unlock on June 30th, five days after the film’s UK release. The characters are available to use in other modes; it was very strange seeing Tyler Durden/Benjamin Button/Jesse James walking around the paddock. The Hollywood like drama doesn’t stop with ...

JDM: Japanese Drift Master – PC Review

There’s something about the underground world of drifting that has long fascinated motorsport fans. I love going to Brands Hatch each year for their annual JDM competition! From the winding mountain roads of Japan to the iconic scenes of Tokyo's neon-lit streets, drift culture has captured the imagination of gamers and car enthusiasts alike. JDM: Japanese Drift Master, by devs Gaming Factory, sets out to pay tribute to this legacy with a focus on authentic drift mechanics, a story-driven single-player experience, and a lovingly recreated Japanese backdrop. But does it slide into pole position, or spin out before the first corner? "There's no 'wax on wax off' with drifting. You learn by doing it" Han, Tokyo Drift (2006) Gameplay At its core, JDM: Japanese Drift Master is a driving s...

Wreckfest 2 recently became available in early access on Steam. Developers of the first Wreckfest, Bugbear, return with the demolition derby racing simulator with publishing by THQ Nordic. They feel its initial tracks and vehicles ready for playing and want to share their work with the community for further feedback as development continues. Wreckfest 2 is currently available only on Steam, with console releases with the 1.0 build yet TBD. I'm gonna wreck it! One of my core childhood memories is attending a demolition derby with my grandpa. I'm not sure if it was the loud destruction or just the fact that it was something like I'd never seen before. Regardless, any chance to play a game like Wreckfest 2 is one I'm going to take. Come to think of it, it was likely the destruction as I'm m...

Developed by Xocus and published by Joy Way. EXOcars allows you to compete against real players in single-player races as well as real-time multiplayer. It is available on the Meta Quest Store now for £15.99. Our main question though, does it give anything new to the VR racing genre? Kiss Hug Cars VR buggies, multiple tracks, leaderboards, customisation. Sounds promising right? Well, let's dive into the gameplay a bit more and see what you think. Gameplay EXOcars has a very simple play loop. Select a track, and race as fast as you can to the finish line. Rinse and repeat. It sounds like this might be a very basic game, but fear not. Under the hood of this game is a detailed racing sim. Racing these buggies is a challenge, but drifting around corners and obstacles soon becomes second na...
