The Expanse A Telltale Series Episode 1 – PS5 Review

The Expanse is the first title since the rebirth of Telltale Games. They are continuing with the format of an episodic adventure that has worked well for them in the past. To The Brig or The Airlock Based on James S.A. Corey’s popular book series and TV show, The Expanse. Players can now explore this extraordinary world like never before, taking on the perspective of Camina Drummer. When it was announced that The Expanse was being made into a Telltale series it piqued my interest and went into my book of games to keep an eye on. Gameplay Just a heads up, the game's storyline takes place before the TV series, so it's unnecessary to watch the show to enjoy the game fully. It is up to you to make the story choices, your actions as Drummer will shape the world around you. Episode On...

Tails: The Backbone Preludes – PC Review

In 2021, Egg Nut Games and Raw Fury showed us that the world of animals was even more gritty and complex as our own with noir pixel art game Backbone. Following raccoon P.I. Howard Lotor, players were thrown into a world of intrigue and conspiracy and were left with some questions hanging in the air. 2 years later, they return to share how it all began with prequel Tails: The Backbone Preludes. Tails takes place years before the events of its predecessor, showing the beginnings of its key characters. Backbone protagonist Howard Lotor returns, as does reporter Renee Wilson and mob boss Clarissa Bloodworth. Joined by newcomer Eli Abbas, four stories of growth, discovery, intrigue and danger paint a picture of Vancouver's past. What is beyond the city walls? How did a don’s granddaughter m...

Time to fashion myself a mohawk and grab the nearest weapon of choice and head off to defeat the enemies and revisit my youth. Re-Loaded - Just another bullet in the chamber? Dwerve – PC Review

If you're a fan of tower defence games, then the developers at Half Human Games have brought us their take on the genre with Dwerve. Released in May 2022, players can pick it up on Steam for £15.49. The soundtrack is also available for an additional £7.19 for those who love to collect music. Not all heroes carry swords I find this genre relaxing and not too demanding, which makes it a great way to pass the time. Games like Bloons TD 6 and Plants vs Zombies instantly come to mind. Both were great games, but what interested me with Dwereve is that it is more story-focused. I'm hoping for a nice selection of towers to use and a rich story I can get lost in. Let me know in the comments about some of your favourite tower defence games and what I should check out. Gameplay In Dwerve, our...

Bandit Brawler – PC Review

After a hard day at work there is nothing better than a good bar fight, or so I am told. Titanite Games have decided to make that a reality for all with their latest release Bandit Brawler. Obviously, there are a few drawbacks, you have to rob and pillage a lot to be a true bandit, so that's officially now your day job. Time to see if I know the difference between a Haymaker and a Bolo punch in a few fights. Best get my sparkly dressing gown ready and some decent intro music, it's off I go to beat up some people. (please be aware that Thumb Culture does not affiliate itself with actual fights in real bars/clubs/supermarkets/petrol stations) Swing and a Miss or a Knockout Blow? I wonder if this game will take me back to my youth when I used to go out clubbing a lot. Bring it on and don't ...

Let's jump in and check out what this new Indie game offers; hopefully, this little flame will have a bright future. Let me know in the comments below what your thought about Strayed Lights. Final Fantasy XVI – PS5 Review

Return to the world of Final Fantasy in the latest entry, Final Fantasy XVI, developed by Square Enix Creative & Business Unit III. Travel through a world on the brink of ruin while wielding the power of the Eikons in this action role-playing game. Final Fantasy XVI is available right now on PlayStation for £64.99. Also for purchase is the Digital Deluxe going for £84.99 Walk tall my friends. I have only played a few entries in the Final Fantasy series, with the tenth being my favourite for turn-based combat. Final Fantasy XV is another favourite for its character development and the interesting aspect that it was more of a road trip. I found Fifteen's combat quite interesting. When I saw that Final Fantasy XVI was heading in the same direction, it immediately caught my interest, esp...
