Golf vs Zombies – PC Review

Golfing and surviving a zombie apocalypse. These two things you wouldn't necessarily put together. The developers, Sleepwalking Potatoes, have gone and done it in Golf vs. Zombies! It follows on from their past releases Earthworms, Lesson Learned, Bouncy Bob, and My Demon Wife. This unique take on this horror genre was released on 15th September on most platforms. I got my hands on the club and took a swing at this unique game. Read on to see what I thought of it. The Fairway to the Zombie Par-tee If have found zombie apocalypse games to have become stale then games like this get you excited. I for one have and it takes something unique to interest me. This is a quirky take on the genre providing a challenge but also some laughs. What's your favorite zombie survival game that you hav...

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – PS5 Review

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the latest title from the minds of Sumo Digital and Gun Interactive. The game is now available on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, as well as on PC. It follows on from Gun Interactives and Illfronic's hit Friday the 13th. May The Odds Be NOT in your favour I must admit that I was a huge fan of Friday The 13th Game. Every night, you could find me either lurking around Camp Crystal Lake to hunt down unsuspecting victims or trying to find petrol as a camp counsellor to make my escape. So when The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was announced I was hyped to get that feeling back, with another beloved franchise. Gameplay When playing this survival horror game with an asymmetric setup, as the Victim, your starting point is the basement where you'll find yourself trap...

Forever Skies – PC Preview

Forever Skies is a different take on the post-apocalyptic base-building survival genre. It is the flagship game of Far From Home Studios, who believe that games can be a tool for enacting change in the world. Forever Skies is available in Early Access for PC only on Steam. Forever Skies Brings Survival to New Heights Let's face it: there are a lot of base-building survival games out there right now. Many of them are post-apocalyptic, and even more involve zombies or other similar savage humanoids. So while Forever Skies seems to follow that post-apocalyptic route, it caught my eye because it looked a bit different than what I'm used to seeing. Not to mention the idea of a floating base too. Thankfully there also don't appear to be any zombies either, which I am very glad for. Gamepl...

Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons – PC review

Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons is a side-scrolling beat-em-up released on 27th July 2023 and is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. The game follows the continuing adventures of the Double Dragon brothers Billy and Jimmy Lee who we are familiar with from Double Dragon games going back to their first appearance in 1987 Double Dragon. Two heads are better than one! I absolutely loved Double Dragon when I had a chance to get my hands on it following its release. I was drawn into the story as you took control of one of the brothers battling your way through the streets. Playing it with friends was just as rewarding. What are your favorite side-scrolling fighting games similar to this? Let us know in the comments! Gameplay I went into this...

Re-Loaded – PC Review

In December 1996, when the internet was young and Google was less than a year old, the DVD format had just been released and Tom Holland was in nappies, Gremlin Interactive released Re-Loaded less than a year after the moderately successful Loaded. Cut to 2023 and it is the responsibility of Urbanscan to bring the trip down memory lane to the nostalgia driven masses. Time to fashion myself a mohawk and grab the nearest weapon of choice and head off to defeat the enemies and revisit my youth. Re-Loaded - Just another bullet in the chamber? Who doesn't like a little bit of retro action? A visit to the childhood memories that are so sacred in the process of growing up. A chance to force our children to endure the basic lives that we all led before they were even a tingle in our trousers. Ti...

My Friendly Neighborhood – PC Review

My Friendly Neighborhood was developed by John & Evan Szymanski and published with the help of Dreadxp. Begin investigating an abandoned film that has begun broadcasting again in this new survival horror. Released on the 18th of July this year, players can pick it up on Steam for £24.99. There's a lesson here What caught my eye with My Friendly Neighborhood is it looked fresh and unique compared to many other horror games. Yeah. I understand that fighting against undead creatures or grotesque science experiments is scary. But it's nice to see some developers trying to make cute things into more dark and twisted variants. Some examples that come to mind are Bendy And The Ink Machine and, more recently, Poppy's Playtime. Unlike the other games mentioned, My Friendly Neighborhood isn't ...

Exoprimal – PC Review

The development team at Capcom have brought us a new game action game with dinosaurs. No, it isn't Dino Crisis remake we all hoped for, but a new online competitive shooter called Exoprimal. Players can suit up and go head to head as of July 14th of this year. You can buy the game on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation for £49.99 or the Deluxe Edition for £54.98. You should have stayed extinct! I've been eager to play Exoprimal since I saw the trailer last year. The first thing that caught my eye was obviously fighting large amounts of dinosaurs, but what really hooked me was the Exos. Each one looks unique, and after I played the beta, I was sold, especially with Krieger. Seeing that the game wasn't only multiplayer but had a story was a bonus. I'm very excited to see how this plays compared to...

Martian Panic – PC Review

Run! NYX Digital Ltd has sent Martians to invade us with help from Funbox Media Ltd. They'll be arriving June 30th this year! Luckily we can fight back in Martian Panic, an arcade shooter. It'll be available on Steam for those who love rail shooters. Get off my planet! I don't play a lot of rail shooters, and the last one I could recall playing was Silent Hill; I must have wasted a good few tokens on that. I thought I would try and give the rail shooter genre another go and thought Martian Panic would be a good start. The visuals looked fun, and the characters seemed whacky. Let me know in the comment below what rail shooters you would recommend.   Gameplay There are several characters for players to choose from, such as the travelling salesman or a teenage girl who is secretly an ...

Street Fighter 6 – PS5 Review

From The World Warrior to Turbo, endless hours in the early '90s for me were spent playing Street Fighter II with my pals. With iconic music and beloved characters, the hit Capcom game defined a new genre in which players faced of 1v1. Mastering your favourite fighters repertoire of moves with the aim of inflicting the humiliating "Perfect" gave serious bragging rights in the school yard. With the launch of Street Fighter 6 it's finally time to dust off my dragon punch and return to the series that consumed so much of my early gaming days. FIGHT! Street Fighter 6 Hits The Streets Played here on PS5 the game is also available on PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. It can be purchased in Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate editions. Gameplay It is clear that Capcom is taking a new approach with th...
