Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut – Switch 2 Review

As one of the final entries in the Kiryu timeline, Yakuza 0 is an almost perfect refinement of the long-running series. The original was a breakout hit in the West and began a march of remasters. All were well received, both critically and commercially. Now, Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut lands on the Switch 2, with some subtly reworked graphics and additional cutscenes that connect it back to the current timeline. Can Kiryu unleash the beast one last time? Or is it a trip back to the dojo? Let’s find out! Just When I Thought I Was Out, They Dragged Me Back In (to the karaoke bar). As a long-time Sega stan, I regard the Yakuza series as the missing link to the Dreamcast era of the early 2000s. While the console flopped, the company went out in a blaze of extravagant, surrealistic glory. Titl...

ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN PC Review

ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN is an Action, RPG, and Roguelite game made by FromSoftware. It takes place in the ELDEN RING universe, but it exists on its own two legs. I have been noticing that lately, we've had a few roguelikes that choose to have a three-person team, like Windblown, which is my strongest memory of this example. With it being a game from FromSoftware, the difficulty of the game is only in one mode. Which, for some new people coming into the game, would think it's a very difficult game. However, for people who understand FromSoftware's history and roguelites, this is what makes it fun. "How hard?" You may be asking. Oh ho ho ho. Just keep reading to see if I can let you understand what to expect. Yes! Old enemies to face and *someone whispering in my ear* WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE ...

Deadzone: Rogue – PC Early Access Preview

Deadzone: Rogue is a roguelite FPS by Prophecy Games (Tribes 3) now available in Early Access via Steam or Epic. Live, die, repeat in this foray onto a drifting colony ship to Mars that never made it. Fight your way through bots, cyborgs, and even reanimated corpses as you search for answers not only about the ship but about yourself. Going Rogue in the Deadzone Deadzone: Rogue has been on my radar for a while now. I spent a good amount of time playing the demo, which left me wanting more. Even as an Early Access launch, the game has not been disappointing in the slightest. Check out my thoughts on this latest roguelite below! Gameplay Deadzone: Rogue is a first person shooter roguelite that can be played solo or co-op. As a [insert spoiler here], fight and die to upgrade and fight...

SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure – PC Review

I've been searching for a game to fill the gap that Cuisineer has left. So when indie developers kopiforge reached out offering the chance to play their new game SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure I couldn't say yes fast enough. Recently released on Steam for around £13, this game promises a cooking-combat adventure. And even better it's first and foremost a co-op game! Wok hard, Play Harder As one half of a co-op streaming channel, you can often find me moaning that the co-op genre has been brimming with games that are much of the same muchness. Same gameplay recipe, slightly different game dished up. Which is where I'm really hopeful that SEDAP! A Culinary Adventure is different. Let's head out on this quest together. Plot The story begins with friends Som and Gon walking along the beac...

The Siege and the Sandfox – PC Review

The Siege and the Sandfox is an Action, Adventure, Metroidvania coming from Cardboard Sword. With the help of PLAION from the publishing side. This game being Cardboard Sword's first entry into the gaming industry and is out now on Steam.  Sneak in the shadow, strike like a club, but remember to be the Sandfox This game does look gorgeous with it's 2-d pixel art style. Yet, within my complete playthrough, I felt as if something was either wrong or missing. I did come across some bugs that did break my immersion during my session. Basically, the entire adventure felt well executed, but like every gem, not every gem can be flawless. Let's get into the full review. Gameplay The Siege and the Sandfox has you playing Kasha'i or better yet known as the Sandfox. An agent of the people, wh...

Drop Point Preview With Tiny Indie Studio

Recently, I received a very interesting email. It was purely titled Days Gone Meets Rust. This piqued my interested as these are both games that I absolutely love. Fast-forward a few days, and I'm getting an invite to a special, exclusive showing of Drop Point. The brainchild of Tiny Indie Studio. A small studio from Hamilton, New Zealand. Could you read this before I Drop my Point? Jumping onto a video call, they had an awesome presentation ready to go. I honestly felt the excitement from the start of the call. It also helped that both Mike (Project Manager) and Piripi (Art Lead) from Tiny Indie Studio were absolutely awesome guys to talk to! Gameplay Drop Point is a base-building, base raiding, harvesting, crafting, and combat survival game. The game is set on an island where a large...

Hypercharge: Unboxed – PS5 Review

Hypercharge: Unboxed is a first-person and third-person action figure shooter. Hypercharge: Unboxed was developed and published by the five indie developers at Digital Cybercherries. The feat here is a fully complete game with some decent amount of content and fun even with just a five person team. It's nice to see a passion project come to life like this. The game is available on the PlayStation Store for Pre-Order ahead of it's launch on the 30th May at 4pm. Hypercharge?? More Like Hydrocharge! If you ever spent your younger years wishing you could be a toy soldier and role play all your favourite stories, then this is the game for you! Gameplay The gameplay loop of Hypercharge: Unboxed is very straight forward. This is basically a tower defence game shooter. Where you, a toy of ...

Hordes of Fate: A Hand of Fate Adventure – PC Demo Preview

Hordes of Fate: A Hand of Fate Adventure is an action roguelite, horde survivors-like based on the setting of the Hand of Fate games by Defiant Development. Spitfire Interactive (Capes) is developing the game in this genre though, with Defiant Development (Hand of Fate) publishing. The game is currently only available to Wishlist on Steam, but you can download and play the demo now. My Games are Blending Together... Ok, so maybe roguelites aren't the only games I seem to end up playing around here. Horde survivors-like games seem to be just as likely. Hordes of Fate: A Hand of Fate Adventure is the more latter leaning of the two. So where does it stand up currently with the rest? Check out my thoughts on the demo build below. Gameplay Hordes of Fate: A Hand of Fate Adventure is the...

DOOM: The Dark Ages – PC Review

DOOM: The Dark Ages is an Action, First Person Shooter from the same brains behind the rest of the DOOM series, id Software. Thankfully the funds from Bethesda Studios have the cup run over for how great this game turned out. DOOM: The Dark Ages is a prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. If you're wondering if you can play this DOOM before the others, yes however I would always start with the older games first. All you lost lambs that are entering the DOOM series with DOOM: The Dark Ages, I have one thing to say... Rip and tear...Rip and Tear...RIP and Tear...RIP AND Tear...RIP AND TEAR...RIP AND TEAR!!!!!!!! For everyone out of the loop or they're reading this review to see if DOOM is right for them, sit down, because I got a tale to rip and tear right into you. Gameplay The...

Frog Legs – PC Review

There's something delightful about games that lure you in with pixelated innocence before launching you face-first into the existential horrors of frog-based trauma. Frog Legs, developed and published by the wonderfully twisted mind of Elliott Dahle (yes, the same person behind The Man in the Park), does exactly that. What starts like a cute 8-bit Frogger-esque jaunt quickly devolves into a surreal, dimension-hopping horror comedy with no business being this entertaining. Frog Legs – From Hops to Shots in 40 Minutes Flat It's refreshing to see indie titles like Frog Legs blend dimensions, tones and gameplay styles while telling a funny and disturbing little story. We need more bold, bonkers games like this in the world. Do you have a favourite indie horror that deserves the spotlight? Dr...
