It’s always difficult to review a microphone. After all, it doesn’t really do much. Aside being one of the most important pieces of equipment that you might need. Here comes Razer to the rescue, with the Seiren V3 Chroma microphone. This retails at around £129.99, that is unless you want the white or quartz colourway. That will set you back an extra £10. Is it all worth it though?

Let’s get this all set up, and we can give this microphone a really good test.
Design
The setup of the Razer Seiren V3 Chroma was easy, it really is plug-and-play. Just screw the main microphone onto the base, or boom arm if you are using one. Then plug in the USB-C cable and away you go. You know you have done it correctly, mostly because there is only one port on the back. But you get greeted with a nice rainbow of RGB colour.

We got sent through the black version of the microphone, but you can get a white one or a nice pink (quartz) colour. Personally, I would have loved to have been sent the white or pink one. More so that it would stand out on my all black desk. But also because who doesn’t love a bit of colour now and again. After all, black is the absence of all colour.
Getting back to the microphone in hand, it has a nice rounded aesthetic, giving it a nice subtlety whilst sitting at the desk. It’s a nice change from the sharp edges that the majority of gaming peripherals usually have.
Features
So what sets this microphone apart from other ones, I hear you ask. Well, there are a few neat features. To start with, it has Stream and Game Reactive Lighting. Powered by the Razer Chroma RGB, this adds immersion to Chroma-integrated games. It also reacts to stream events such as emotes, alerts and a heck of a lot more.

With a tap to mute sensor button on the top, you can easily mute your microphone if you need to. However, this also doubles as a multifunction button. Tap it twice and it will adjust the lighting mode. Even triple tap and it toggles the mic’s digital gain limiter. I found myself just changing between chroma effects in the spare moments between work meetings.
If you are into microphones, then you will know all about the polar patterns. The Razer Seiren V3 Chroma has a Supercardoid one, meaning that it picks up your voice when in front of the mic. Whilst simultaneously suppressing room noise to give clean crisp sounds for anyone listening. In line with that, the microphone features built-in shock absorbers, meaning your sound should be without pops. Along with lights to warn you when your audio levels are peaking you can rest assured that your noise is going to be perfect for whatever you are doing.

If you want to customise it a little bit more, then you can always open up the Razer Synapse software. Allowing you to change certain settings, including the sampling rate, but also giving you more freedom over the RGB settings. There are a few other bits and pieces you can mess around with, but straight out of the box, the quality is pretty good.
Final Thoughts
Depending on whether you are using the Razer Seiren V3 Chroma for work calls or for streaming, you will find a very well-balanced microphone that picks up clean audio every time. It looks great with any setup, and with the chroma colours it lights up nicely.
