Finding good-quality but affordable earbuds has always been a challenge. There is a vast market of earbuds, and it is hard to know which ones are worth their money. The EarFun Air Pro 4i offer a new option within this market. It is the newer, slightly cheaper version of the EarFun Air Pro 4 that was released in 2024. At £49.99, is it an affordable, good-quality option?

Is it really fun for your ears?

Having suffered with the same earbuds for several years, I jumped at the opportunity to review the EarFun Air Pro 4i. Will these become a staple in your ears? Let’s dive in and see why these are a great, affordable option.

Design & Features

The EarFun Air Pro 4i is a stem design, opposed to a bud. The silicon tips allow for a comfortable but secure fit. This is further amplified by the variety of silicon tip options. With variations in sizes given to ensure that you are comfortable.

The earbuds themselves come in a slick and classy black finish, which is complemented by their matching charging case. The case itself is 55.7 x 52.9 x 31.2 mm, and it only weighs 51.3g. Fitting comfortably in your pocket without protruding too much. The EarFun Air Pro 4i recently accompanied me on a trip to London, in which I forgot they were sitting in my pocket.

Nice & compact design

The biggest positive of these earbuds is the battery life they boast. With noise cancellation turned on, the earbuds give the listener up to 6.5 hours of battery life. Without, you are looking at up to 9.5 hours. The case itself offers up to 3 charges, allowing around 40 hours of non-stop audio without the need to recharge. Further to this, if you forget to charge, fast charging means that 10 minutes charge time equates to 2 hours of playtime. This is a great feature for those who often forget and are on a tight turnaround.

What will you use them for?

The EarFun Air Pro 4i also offer support through the EarFun Audio application. Here, you are given a variety of options that help to boost your experience. Firstly, there is the active noise-cancelling option. With this setting, the listener is able to choose if they would like a normal experience, an ambient sound experience or complete noise cancellation. Using noise cancellation also comes with a variety of options based on what you are doing. The ‘strong’ option is very effective. Working in a busy office means I often hear multiple conversations, making it hard to concentrate. Using the ‘strong’ option has meant that these noises are completely blocked. I have not been able to make out what a person is saying, even though they are standing next to me. This is also a huge bonus if you are anti-social, like me!

Plenty of options.

However, if you want more of a balanced noise cancellation experience there is a ‘balance’ option, or an ‘environment adaptive option’. These are good to consider when outside and near traffic. Making sure that you are safe, and not at impending doom of being hit by a car whilst listening to your favourite artist.

Performance

When considering the price, it is great to see that the EarFun Air Pro 4i boosts LDAC. There are not many earbuds within this price point that have that capability. LDAC enables you to have richer and more detailed sound. The earbuds have the capability for a wide range of tracks, sounding solid. Even the likes of ‘Baseline Junkie’ sound relatively good, considering how bass-heavy it is. When I compare this on my Sony over-ear headphones, I am struggling to find a massive difference.

As I have stated before, the use of the EarFun Audio application really enhances the performance. Within the application, there is the equaliser feature. Here, you can use pre-made sound profiles or complete a hearing test, which gives you a custom sound profile made for your ears. It is easy to complete and will hopefully add to your experience.

Conclusion

When considering the low price of £49.99, I genuinely do not believe you would be able to get a better deal.  The EarFun Air Pro 4i are daily earbuds in which you can rely on. They offer good sound, but also have a great battery life. When looking at other options on the market, I do not believe there is much better. These earbuds have become my daily earbuds, and I believe if you were to also buy them, they would soon become yours.

Therefore, I will be awarding the EarFun Air Pro 4i with the Thumb Culture Platinum Award.
