Lost and Found Co. – PC Review

Hidden object games have had a big resurgence in the last few years, from the simplistic to the multi-layered. Lost and Found Co. manages to be both. A cosy Where’s Wally?-style spot-a-thon from Bit Egg Inc., sees the past and present collide on various levels in a wholesome adventure. The ancient goddess of war, Mei Long, suffers from dwindling faith, with fewer and fewer visitors to her shrine every day. What's worse, a shadowy yet up-and-coming corporate figure seems to be involved. With the help of duckling-turned-young-boy Ducky and the questionable merchant Kit, Mei must renew people's faith by finding lost valuables. All while being stuck in cute, tiny dragon form. A Throwback With Bells & Whistles On Back in the mid-2000s, three things were certain about me. I was determined ...

Project Songbird – PC Review

First thing's first, I have not looked into anything about Project Songbird. And I have not played anything else by Connor Rush or FYRE Games. Which means I will be going into the game blind, besides knowing the basics: it's a horror narrative, and we play as an artist named Dakota. Who knows, after this, I might check out some of his other works! There is a type of beauty, found in tragedy. Whilst Project Songbird does not release until 26th March on Steam, that doesn't stop you giving it a little Wishlist. You know we love helping out indie developers here at Thumb Culture. Gameplay Project Songbird places us into the shoes of the musician Dakota, who is struggling with a bad case of writer's block. After a phone call from her manager Rob, she is offered a recluse cabin in the wo...

Crabmeat – PC Review

I love a good fishing game, especially when they attempt a bit more of a horror type one. Like Dredge, or About Fishing. This time we play as a Crab fisherman in Crabmeat! A game developed by Nicholas McDonnell and Mitchell Pasmans. It looks rather interesting, and I am hoping for some nice creepy ambience with it. But with all that said, you can pick up Crabmeat on Steam for £6.69, that's not bad. If you haven't got the money now, then a demo is also out for Crabmeat. So you have no excuse not to try! Dark waters, and all I can hear is the sound of pincers. Gameplay We play as a no named character, who happens to be caught up in debt. This leads to us being forced to pay it off via sailing and capturing King Crabs. Hence, the game's name, Crabmeat. The player then awakes on their boa...

Inky Blinky Bob – PC Review

Inky Blinky Bob looks like it might be inspired by Choo-Choo Charles. As we take a mode of transportation, explore various islands, and hope we aren't eaten by a monster. So if you enjoy that, then you can grab Inky Blinky Bob on Steam now. Or try the demo here. This game looks like a gas Gameplay After arriving to an island and being saved from a plane crash the player is introduced to the character Ralph. He explains to us that we need to activate several Tesla towers, to lower the shields of the giant dome. Which you can not miss, as it is red. Ralph also tells us that there is a large government lap behind the dome, and that we need to destroy it. And gives the player his new creation, a hot air balloon that is kitted with guns. This is our only means from hopping from islands to ...

Homura Hime – PC Review

Homura Hime is an action game from developers Crimson Dusk and publishing company PLAYISM. As this is their first game, Crimson Dusk jump into the gaming scene with quite an impressive offering. From the combat and parrying mechanics, to the beautiful and amazing character designs, this game checks every box on my list. But, with every good thing there are slight flaws. However, it is a bit early to talk about that. Fun fact: Homura Hime literally translates to 'Flame Princess'. Floating Swords and Bullet Hell Parry Adventures. Gameplay We play as titular character Hormura Hime, the Flame Princess who is the strongest exorcist of all time. Hormura works with the top shrine maiden, who assists with shooting from a distance. Oddly, she can transform into a device that she crafted to be ...

Solateria PC Review

Solateria is an Action, Adventure Metroidvania from the creative minds at Studio Doodal. With publishing assistance from Shinsegae Information. Solateria has the look and feel of Hollow Knight, but with a heavy lean into parrying. Yes, I know what you're thinking. This is the second game in a row that has the Protag being fire based. With leaning hard on parrying being the main mechanic. The game is actually a blazing time that would have you learn your enemy's pattern and timing. Almost like a Souls like game since executing a perfect parry brings in more damage. So grab yourself the energy of your choice of energy drink and remember the golden rule when attempting Metroidvania bosses. Get some sleep and try again another day. If I had a nickel for how many games I'd review this that...

Packing Life – PC Review

A new little sim has come to me named Packing Life, it was created by the team at Aroko Game Studio. And has us step into the character Lily as she packs up orders, while unloading a sweet story for you. Packing Life is out now on Steam, and has a demo available too, just in case you wish to try before you buy. If you do purchase Packing Life, it is more on the cheaper side, at the cost of £8.50. Everyone loves parcels, even the packers. Gameplay Packing Life is all about organizing items to fit into the various boxes. The game lets you know which size via the little monitor. We then begin to package products to fit, similar to Tetris without the speed. Before you do begin playing Packing Life offers the player two modes. Relaxing which removes the in-game timer, or normal - with the ...

Cosy Caravan – PC Review

Cosy Caravan is a cute little game about spreading happiness, by helping out, and making grub. Sounds like my kinda place! If you are looking for a whole new cosy game about travelling with a giant fluffy bumblebee. Then this game might be for you. Cosy Caravan is out now on Steam for £16.75. Nothing wrong with spreading joy. Gameplay Cosy Caravan, let us create our own cute little character who is then asked by their aunt for help. As she is busy preparing for a festival. After a short, but brief tutorial, we set off with our friend Bubba - the frog. And the large but chunky boi, Rigby, who is a large bumblebee who pulls your caravan. So far I don't think Cosy Caravan has an actual goal to work towards. We do start of as rookies to the guild, but this seems more like a placeholder mo...
