Gameplay
Step into the shoes of a recruit in the Elite Survey Corps. The game begins with the same cataclysmic event in the TV anime series. The sudden appearance of the Colossal Titan and breaching Wall Maria. As a recruit, players must navigate the devastated landscape, engage in combat with Titans and complete missions to aid humanity’s survival. Immersing you in the gameplay from its first-person perspective
Attack on Titan: Unbreakable VR excels in replicating the feeling of using the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear. The grappling hook system allows for quick and dynamic movement throughout the environment. Combat is fast-paced and gives your arms a little workout as you slash and move in all directions, having you spinning around in your play space. The game does a great job of preventing you from getting motion sick while nipping around the city using its various comfort settings.
If you’re a fan of the anime series then this is a must-play especially for $5 in its Early Access state. The game comes with the first 2 chapters with more to come when it officially releases. However, being in early access it does have things to work on, more parts of the story and more activities to do would be nice. This means the game doesn’t get boring too quickly.
Graphics & Audio
The graphics and scenery are just average, which isn’t a bad thing as gameplay is the most important feature. It is nice to see every Titan is different, with a difference in size and shape. Unfortunately, there are no Quest 3 enhancements.
The audio effects of the grappling and blade slashes are spot on and wadd to the immersion of the game. Thankfully even though Attack on Titan: Unbreakable is in an Early Access state, I didn’t experience any frame rate issues or graphical glitches.
Longevity
I really enjoyed my time playing Attack on Titan: Unbreakable although towards the end it was starting to feel repetitive. I can forgive this to a degree due to it being Early Access, however it will need more content adding to bring me back.
The comfort level is really good, I didn’t feel any motion sickness at all. However, a new person playing in VR may not be as lucky. Just something to be aware of I guess.
Final Thoughts
Attack on Titan: Unbreakable offers a unique and immersive way to experience the anime’s high-flying action and epic battles. For fans of the series, it provides a thrilling and authentic experience that captures the essence of the show. There is a little bit of a learning curve and potential motion sickness issues are worth considering before diving in, but the Game is worth a try.
