If you are looking for a set of desktop speakers that give decent performance for what could be considered a budget price. Then you should check out the Edifier G1000 II Desktop Gaming Speakers.  Retailing for around £69.99 on Amazon, these speakers boast good looks as well as decent specs. Will they be good enough to accompany your setup? Let’s find out!

Design Features

Featuring a 2.0 setup, the Edifier G1000 II boasts eye-catching looks. Available in 3 different colourways: black, white and pink. Their bold edges and see-through front panel allow you to see angled cut-outs and the RGB lights. They strike a fine balance between performance and style. Measuring around 10cm in width and 12cm in height, they can fit in most desktop spaces. I have them set underneath my side monitors, flanking the main monitor nicely. With their slightly angled back stance, they ensure the sound is directed exactly where it needs to go.

Each speaker has a 2.5″ driver that is powered by high-powered magnets. Making use of Edifier’s acoustic heritage, they are able to pump out rich, crisp details alongside a powerful audio performance. With up to 8W of peak power, these are definitely a small but mighty speaker. Add that with a racetrack-shaped bass port that ensures superior bass performance. Cutting out excess wind noise ensures that the low-frequency bass notes are delivered precisely.

Reflecting greatness

With three EQ Modes, for Music, Gaming and Movies. You can customise the soundscape depending on what you are doing on your computer. The Edifier G1000 II fits your every request, ensuring immersive audio at a price fit for many budgets. Each mode has it’s own colour set as standard, but with the 9 dynamic modes you can change it up to fit your own setup colour. All are using the silicone buttons on top of the right speaker.

Compatibility

The speakers have three connection modes to suit any setup. Bluetooth 5.4 for connecting to a phone or other mobile device. You have the Aux, 3.5mm audio jack, for connecting to computers through the line in port. Finally you have the USB connection. Probably my preferred where possible, this allows you to connect again to your PC or other systems.

Having all of these options opens up the compatibility of the Edifier G1000 II massively. It can accompany simple console setups, as well as major PC gaming rigs. Giving the immersive audio you expect from an Edifier product.

Final Thoughts

Overall, what Edifier have created a set of speakers that are well priced, and the performance is great. Of course, it’s not going to hold up against larger, more refined bookshelf speakers, but it gives anyone access to great sound. Which, let’s be honest, is one of the most important aspects of gaming.

The Edifier G1000 II are a great little set of speakers, and they will sit nicely on my desk, accompanying my setup for a long while. Whilst not as powerful as other more pricey models, they stand their own in the budget arena. Fighting their way to a Thumb Culture Gold Award.
