Welp, that might just be the longest review title I’ve ever had to write out! When UGREEN offered to send us their newest docking station, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. What I didn’t expect was something that was going to change the way I arranged my computer desk. I present the UGREEN Revodok Maxidok 17-in-1 Thunderbold 5 Docking Station. See I told you it was a long one! For the purposes of this, and so that the SEO doesn’t melt, I’ll refer to it as the UGREEN Maxidok.
When 15-in-1 Doesn’t Quite Cut It!
Now I know what you’re thinking, “Tell me, Stu, when are you going to make use of something like this?” Well, good question, imaginary Stu, I’m going to try and explain just what this gorgeous-looking unit does, and just what advantages it can bring to your setup.
Design Features
First up is the looks, it’s a nice cube with its angular lines along two sides. Sits beautifully on any desk, in particular my nice black one. It’s made of premium materials that just ooze class. Thankfully, though, the UGREEN Maxidok backs up it’s looks with incredible features. In particular, the introduction of Thunderbolt 5, featuring transfer rates of up to 120Gbps, which is three times faster than the previous Thunderbolt 4. It doesn’t end there, though. Alongside that rapid transfer rate comes a 240W total system power. Meaning you are going to be keeping so many devices charged or powered.

The UGREEN Maxidok is designed for a workflow that demands something impressive. With so many ports I honestly dont know where to start. But I’m going to try. Coming in with 3 x USB-C ports capable of a 10Gbps transfer rate, alongside 3 x USB-A with the same rate. Two memory card slots, SD & TF 4.0, then a single Gigabit Ethernet port. On the audio side there is a combo jack, and then on the rear, there is two more, an in and an out. A DisplayPort 2.1 on the back, and then you have a Thunderbolt 5 upstream port for connecting to a laptop or computer. The final port on the externals is the two Thunderbolt 5 downstream ports, used for connecting to other devices, however you want to set up your desk layout.
Now you might be thinking that you’ve only counted 16, and you’d be right. The final one sits on the bottom of the unit, behind a little trap door. This one is an M.2 slot capable of holding up to 8TB of information. So you can store raw files on this, kind of turning it into a nice little mini-NAS.

Displays for Days
With the display outputs included you can either have a single 8K@60Hz display, or you can scale it back slightly. Going with a dual 6K@60Hz, either option is massive and super impressive. My displays are only a maximum of 1440@144Hz, so it gobbled up that resolution, even if it did nerf the refresh rate slightly. Either way, the UGREEN Maxidok is flexing some serious muscle.
So all that charging, and let it be known that it can charge an iPhone 17 Pro Max to around 66% in 30 minutes. I tested it and it was pretty accurate as well. All that power is going to generate heat and built into the Maxidok is an intelligent cooling system. Designed to be 30% cooler than other units of similar size and spec. This uses a hybrid system of active and passive cooling, which allows the 24/7 continuous use claim to be realised.
All this spec talk adds up to a great performing docking station. Now, don’t get me wrong, you would expect it with a price tag of around £400. I do think that it justifies that price tag, especially if you work with large files. This would be perfect for a video editor or some form of graphics designer. The files in use there are going to be huge, and with the transfer rates the UGREEN Maxidok flaunts, your workflow is going to be incredible.

Final Thoughts
The UGREEN Maxidok brings elegance to your desk setup. Alongside some incredible connectivity options, depending on your setup. It allows fast and stable data transfers at speeds most of us couldn’t imagine. It isn’t going to appeal to everyone, however, not only is the price quite high, but it’s a very niche piece of equipment. I mean I have an 8-in-1 USB docking station that I use regularly. 17-in-1 is a whole different ball game. So make sure you do a lot of research into whether this unit is what you need. If not, UGREEN has you covered with a whole myriad of other docking station options.
The UGREEN Maxidok receives the Thumb Culture Gold Award.
