Superhero Simulator is a single-player simulation game that has entered early access, brought to you by developer and publisher mightyracoon! Studios, you are given the opportunity to become the hero that Goldpine City needs. Do you have what it takes to become a superhero?
Is it a bird, is it a plane?

Gameplay
Goldpine City is in drastic need of a hero. Crime rates have risen, and powerful villains have emerged, leaving civilians to be rescued. Firstly, before doing all that, a hero needs to be made. Your hero is customisable in both hero form and civilian form. Creating a signature look is relatively easy; however, there are limited options. Progressing through the game allows for new outfits to be unlocked and brought, helping to improve your look.
Shortly afterwards, you are thrust into Goldpine City. Beginning your heroic duties has never been so easy, as the tutorial shows you how it is done. Here you are introduced to putting out fires, saving civilians and fighting the bad guys. It doesn’t take too long until you are in the swing of things, becoming the superhero Goldpine City needs.

As the game progresses, so does your need for improvements. Being a superhero with ‘base game stats’ is a recipe for disaster. Thankfully, the implementation of a reward-type system helps to combat this. Progressing through the levels allows for both cosmetic and playable upgrades. This will help you down the line when facing villains. Eventually, this will go one step further with the introduction of a skill tree. The latest announcement from the developer has shared their excitement about this addition.
Are you up to the task?
The most exciting part of the game (for me) is trying to balance your heroic duties with everyday struggles. Superhero Simulator takes it one step further by making the game realistic. Once you take off the mask, your life does not stop. Arguably, it gets worse! Rescuing civilians and fighting the baddies is the fun part. Then you have to deal with life.

Learning to balance your heroic duties with your everyday struggles is your next task. Quite early into the game, you are faced with eviction, as, unfortunately, being a superhero does not pay the bills. Ultimately, this leads to you needing a job. Beginning your journey, you are limited in your choices. However, as the game progresses further, job opportunities open. I had my fun pretending I was playing ‘Crazy Taxi’ all over again. Just don’t ask how some pedestrians fared.
Further to this, you also need money to ensure that you are fit and healthy. Money enables you to buy food to ensure your superhero has enough energy to do what he does best. This is also alongside your hygiene, to which a shower is your best friend. You need to learn to balance your heroic duties with your everyday struggles.
Graphics & Audio
The way in which the environment is portrayed allows you to feel as if you are in a comic book. Superhero Simulator’s art design and style make it seem as though the characters are jumping off the pages. While comic book games are, of course, nothing new, I am always happy to see them. Being that one of my favourite films is ‘Kick Ass’, seeing this type of art style really elevates my playing experience.

Of course, not everyone will have the love I have for this type of style. However, you cannot complain that it does not add to the overall feeling of what you are trying to achieve, this being a superhero.
Final Thoughts
While Superhero Simulator is far from finished, there is so much potential. mightyraccoon! Studios clearly have a vision which they wish to implement, and they have already shown with the speed of their updates how keen they are to make this game into something special. It may take some time, especially considering we are in the early stages of early access. But I am genuinely excited to see where this goes and how it develops.
I definitely recommend checking this game out and seeing the plan the developers have.
