Microsoft really went all out with their Xbox Games Showcase + Starfield Direct last night. The showcase saw the announcement of many exciting new games, from both third and first-party developers. We’ll be taking a look at our top 5 announcements from the Xbox Showcase 2023.

5 Announcements From The Xbox Showcase That Excited Us Most

Now, before we go any further, we realise this is highly subjective and your list may differ. After all, Microsoft gave us a lot to be excited about. Without further ado, here are the 5 announcements from the Xbox Showcase 2023 we’re most looking forward to.

5. Persona 3 Reload

We kick things off with Persona 3 Reload. Touted as “the best one in the series” by many of its fans, Persona 3 Reload was technically announced before the Xbox Showcase, albeit accidentally, by a social media manager with an itchy trigger finger. Don’t worry, they were promptly taken round back [redacted] for their indiscretion. It’s confirmed that Persona 3 Reload won’t include content from FES or Portable though. Sorry FeMC fans.

Persona 3 Reload will release in Early 2024 for Xbox Series X|S / Xbox One / Windows and will be available on day one for Game Pass. Nothing has been officially announced regarding its release on other consoles, but Switch and PlayStation versions have allegedly been leaked as well.

4. Starfield

It’s been a long time coming and its release is closer than ever. Because that’s how time works. Regardless, Starfield has us all excited. It’s Bethesda’s first new RPG in decades. With the combat, settlement building and companions that you’d expect from a modern Bethesda RPG, we’ve also been promised dogfights in space, ship customisations and the ability to explore over 1000 planets. It looks incredible. I just hope that there is some sentient life other than humans.

Starfield will release on September 6th 2023, for Xbox Series X|S / Windows and will be available on day one for Game Pass.

3. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth

So during the not-E3 season, we’ve had 2 announcements for the series formally known as Yakuza. And neither of them was at the PlayStation Showcase. That seemed a little odd to me, but I also do not care. The Ichiban cheek reveal was enough. It also appears that the series will be leaving Japan for the first time as Ichiban wakes up on what appears to be a beach in Hawaii. How did Ichiban get there? Where are his clothes? And what the hell is going on with Kiryu Joryu’s hair? All these questions will be answered in due time.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will release in Early 2024 for PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One and Series X|S and PC.

2. Fable

Originally announced back in 2020 at the Xbox Showcase, it’s been a quiet 4 years for Fable fans. We waited patiently. And finally, our patience was rewarded. With a giant Richard Ayoade. Literally. Playground Games certainly seems to have kept the humour in line with what Fable fans have come to expect. Though visually, it appears Playground Games are very much putting their own stamp on the series. Chicken Chasers rise, we will have our time again.

Fable currently has no release date, but will release for Xbox Series X|S /and PC and will be available day one for Game Pass.

1. Star Wars Outlaws

How could we not all be excited about this? Ubisoft has promised us the first-ever open-world Star Wars game. Set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, play as Kay Vess, described by Ubisoft as a “cunning scoundrel” as she tries to survive these tumultuous times. We’ll get more Star Wars Outlaws info at the Ubisoft Forward event at 6 pm BST on June 12th.

Staw Wars Outlaws will release in 2024 for the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC

And that’s it! Do you agree with our list? Would yours look completely different? What did you think about the Xbox Showcase 2023? Let us know in the comments below.
