The End of the Sun – PS5 Review

If "story-driven adventure steeped in Slavic folklore" is a phrase that interests you, then get ready for this one! The End of the Sun, developed by the small, family-run studio The End of the Sun Forge, certainly piqued my interest when I first saw it. Originally releasing on Steam in 2025 to a "Very Positive" reception, the game is now available for PlayStation 5. Is this a tale worth telling? Or will playing this game have you begging for the end of the actual sun? Let's find out! Spend Your Days in the Sunshiiiiiiine! With plenty of walking simulators out there, it can be difficult to find ones that tell a genuinely engaging story. Got any recommendations for someone who is admittedly not too clued in on the genre? Let me know in the comments below, so I can add them to my ever-ex...

Aphelion – PS5 Review

In my opinion, developer DON'T NOD has created some brilliant games that people don't speak about enough. Aside from the first two Life is Strange titles, they've also developed games such as the wonderful Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, and the criminally underrated Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Now, they're set to release Aphelion, a sci-fi action adventure set on an uncharted planet. Aphelion is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC vis Steam. Is this game's narrative on par with the rest of DON'T NOD's back catalogue? And adding to that, is the gameplay enjoyable enough to keep players engaged? Let's find out! Did You Know: "Aphelion" Isn't a Word Made Up For This Game! The nigh-on infinite amount of sci-fi in films, books, games, and so on, has kept me enterta...

ROCKBEASTS – PC Preview

Ever wanted to manage a talented yet unorganised and volatile 90s rock band? Good news! Now you can, with ROCKBEASTS from Lichthund and Team17. This is an upcoming (2026) narrative management-sim set in a fictional world of anthropomorphic animals. Today I'm chucking out the PC version, which you can Wishlist on Steam here. Video Games Killed The Radio Star The game opens on a flash forward to 2009, where a couple of band members, Paz and Vernon, are being interviewed on the radio. They're in the build up to performing at the 'Aid The World' concert. The radio host, Iggy Pup (voiced by actual Iggy Pop), asks them if they always knew they would make it big. Apparently, the band were on the brink of breaking up back in 1993 when they decided they needed a manager to help them keep things i...

Dispatch – PC Preview

As an avid enjoyer of choice-heavy, consequences-matter games, I was sad to see the death of the original Telltale Games in 2018. While the studio kind of reformed in 2019, they're yet to release a new game. Some of the staff who left Telltale in 2016/17 came together in 2018 to created AdHoc Studio. They wanted their own studio where they could take the narrative genre beyond what Telltale was doing and where risks could be taken that would otherwise be avoided at a large company. Finally, in 2025, AdHoc are nearing the release of their first game. Dispatch is a superhero, work-place comedy with a stellar voice cast and an authentic, comic-book visual style. Z-uper Heroes — From Z to A? Robert Robertson, also known as MechaMan, has broken his mechanical suit in a battle with his neme...

Cabernet In Slumber Until 2025

Developers Party for Introverts and Publisher Akupara Games have sadly announced their game Cabernet will be delayed until early 2025. There is some good news with this as it does mean the narrative vampire horror title will launch simultaneously on PC and consoles. That's vampiric goodness coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox platforms all at once! News to sink your teeth into The game was due to launch in just over a week's time and so when the news landed in our inbox we were shocked. We don't think we can share the news any better than Party for Introverts and Akupara Games already have, which is why we have chosen to simply share their infographic. Until Then – PS5 Review

Until Then is a single-player visual novel narrative game from developer Polychroma Games. The game is set in a fictional version of the Philippines. Though I don't live in the Philippines, I found myself deeply immersed in its local culture and learned a lot about its people, while also experiencing a heartfelt narrative that truly resonates. Until Then? Its around 5 minutes and 51 seconds After incredibly positive demo reception, Until Then was released on PS5 and PC on June 25th, 2024. The game is a difficult one to review due to its narrative nature, but i'll do my best to not reveal anything big. There will be some light narrative spoilers. Gameplay Until Then is a visual novel with minimal interactivity, meaning the best you’ll get in ways of gameplay is the x button and occasion...
