Since the launch of Fantech’s Aria mouse, it has been wildly praised for being an amazing option for esports gaming. Now, Fantech has decided to introduce the Aria II, an updated and improved version of their beloved mouse. Available in a standard and pro version, we were lucky enough to get our hands on it early to put it to the test so we can tell you whether it’s worth investing in. With the standard mouse on sale for ~£37, the Aria II is a high end mouse for a pretty low price point. Is the price point the best thing about it though, or will its connectivity make it stand out in the crowd?
The next step in e-sports wireless gaming mice
Design
The new Fantech World Aria II mouse comes in three colours. You can choose from black, red and white.
I received the black Aria II and honestly I really like the simplistic design of it. Whilst I likes things to have bells and whistles, the lightweight, smooth body of the Aria II was easy to hold and easy to use. This is probably down to the ultra grippy coating that the body of the mouse has, reducing the risk of your mouse flying away.
After seeing the designs that they put on older models, I would have liked to see some more design options, especially considering the split in standard and pro. That being said, the mouse is super easy to use. It never felt like its smoothness was going to be detrimental to the ease of use. If you’re someone that prefers a grippier mouse, the box does include grip stickers that you can apply to make it suitable for your gaming style. Also included, is a set of PTFE mouse skates and dots to reduce friction and allow your mouse to glide smoothly over different surfaces.
With this mouse, Fantech have brought back their well-known egg shape handset. This allows a comfortable grip regardless of your playstyle. This means that Aria II is suitable for any type of gamer! I spent a good few hours playing with this mouse and was waiting for the cramp to hit. It never did though! It’s a super comfortable mouse to use for FPS/e-sports or simple gaming.
Connectivity
Fantech have made the Aria II accessible to many different gamers by adding three different connectivity modes. There is bluetooth and wired mode which you can easily set up through your computer’s settings. However, if you want to take your gaming up a notch, there’s also a StrikeSpeed Pro dongle to ensure you have the most powerful connectivity whilst gaming. It supports an 8k polling rate which means you can get up to 8x better tracking and click performance, enhancing your gameplay with every click.
As well as three connection modes, the Aria II boasts a 70 hour battery life meaning you don’t have to worry about your mouse dying mid-round.
Compatibility
Lack of compatibility is not an issue for the Aria II. With compatibility for Windows 7 and Mac OS 05 10.11 or later, there are plenty of opportunities for gamers to add the Aria II to their PC accessory selection. If you were to use this mouse with a Macbook and prefer wired connections, you will need to find a USB adaptor for later Mac models due to the fact that the wire is USB-A to USB-C wire. However with the bluetooth option available, it isn’t something that should put you off investing in this mouse.
Final Thoughts
Ultimately, the Fantech Aria II is a strong addition to an already pretty strong mouse roster. With multiple connection options suitable for a range of gamers, it’s hard to find any faults. It’s relatively low price points in a world of expensive e-sport mice as well as the battery life and how comfortable it is to use make it a great addition to any gamers set up. It has quick reaction times and a tactile clicky set up that’s easy to spam. The mouse’s light weight makes it a breeze to use rather than feeling like you’re giving your wrist a work out every time you load up Call of Duty.
It’s as a result of that, that I’m giving the Aria II the Platinum Thumb Culture Award.
