Final Fantasy XVI – PS5 Review

Return to the world of Final Fantasy in the latest entry, Final Fantasy XVI, developed by Square Enix Creative & Business Unit III. Travel through a world on the brink of ruin while wielding the power of the Eikons in this action role-playing game. Final Fantasy XVI is available right now on PlayStation for £64.99. Also for purchase is the Digital Deluxe going for £84.99 Walk tall my friends. I have only played a few entries in the Final Fantasy series, with the tenth being my favourite for turn-based combat. Final Fantasy XV is another favourite for its character development and the interesting aspect that it was more of a road trip. I found Fifteen's combat quite interesting. When I saw that Final Fantasy XVI was heading in the same direction, it immediately caught my interest, esp...

F1 23 – PS5 Review

The release of F1 23 brings back Breaking Point, continuing the story mode that went on hiatus in last year's release from EA and Codemasters. Hit your Breaking Point Played here on PS5 the game is also available on PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam and Epic Games. Gameplay Precision Drive Technology delivers greater control for players using a controller to play. It gives a feel to the driving that has never been present in any F1 game I have ever played in the past. Start to lose the back end of your hybrid beast from getting a bit trigger happy with the accelerator and you can now correct the slide with confidence. This allows you to push the limits knowing that you are one with the car rather than a passenger who is along for the ride. The game is broken down into 3 main sec...

Park Beyond – PS5 Review

Park Beyond is the latest title from German developer Limbic Entertainment and was published by Bandai Namco. It is out now on PC, Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5. No Minimum Height Requirement When reflecting on Park Beyond, it's important to recognize the lasting influence of Theme Park - a game that enchanted audiences three decades ago and continues to hold a special place in the hearts of many. The game's premise remains the same after all these years - construct and run a top-notch park to ensure visitors' satisfaction. Park Beyond piqued my interest upon its announcement due to its vibrant visuals, charming characters, and thrilling rides. I eagerly anticipated the opportunity to try it out and discover its full potential. Park Beyond is a simulation game that caters to p...

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 – PS5 Review

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2 is a blend of JRPG-lite and build simulation genres, developed by Agate Games. They're an Indonesian-based dev who, until the Valthirian Arc series, had focused primarily on mobile games. The game is published by PCube, whose previous credits include Arcrunner and Tormented Souls. Valthirian Arc - Back to School It launched on the 22nd of June for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. Gameplay I’d honestly not heard of the original game, Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story, released in late 2018, so I was keen to explore what this genre-fusing RPG had in store for me. Valthirian Arc sees you taking on the role of Principle of one of the Valthirian regions’ academies, where students come to expand their skills as Knights, Mages, Clerics or Ar...

Street Fighter 6 – PS5 Review

From The World Warrior to Turbo, endless hours in the early '90s for me were spent playing Street Fighter II with my pals. With iconic music and beloved characters, the hit Capcom game defined a new genre in which players faced of 1v1. Mastering your favourite fighters repertoire of moves with the aim of inflicting the humiliating "Perfect" gave serious bragging rights in the school yard. With the launch of Street Fighter 6 it's finally time to dust off my dragon punch and return to the series that consumed so much of my early gaming days. FIGHT! Street Fighter 6 Hits The Streets Played here on PS5 the game is also available on PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. It can be purchased in Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate editions. Gameplay It is clear that Capcom is taking a new approach with th...

Dordogne – PS5 Review

Developer Un Je Ne Sais Quoi and Production Company Umanimation bring us the narrative adventure game, Dordogne. Based in the French Department of the same name, Dordogne primarily tells the story of Mimi. Mimi is a 32-year-old woman revisiting her recently deceased grandmother's home in an attempt to recover lost memories of the last summer she spent there 20 years earlier. The inspiration for the game is in part from Game Director and Illustrator Cédric Babouche's own childhood summers spent at his grandmother's house. Babouche, who has worked in animation for 15 years, is exploring video games as a storytelling medium for the first time with Dordogne. He states he was drawn to the medium's relative freedom as opposed to the confines present in developing for TV and cinema. Dordogn...

Tin Hearts – PS5 Review

Tin Hearts is a puzzle platformer from developers Rogue Sun released on 16th May on all platforms. The game is the first official game released by Rogue Sun. They boast that some of the members of the dev team worked on Fable, a popular action adventure. Having seen the trailer I knew I had to take a closer look at this game which looked quirky, challenging, and had a good narrative. Let's see what it is all about. Get stuck into this Tin-spiring Tale I always find myself drawn to puzzle, narrative-driven games. Something is compelling about working through this kind of game and uncovering an overreaching story. One that comes to mind is The Witness where you journey in solitude through the game solving puzzles and learning more about the story as you progress. This game looks to be simi...

Medieval Dynasty – PS5 Review

Medieval Dynasty is a survival strategy builder by the Polish developers Render Cube. First released on the PC in September 2020, finally arrived on current-gen consoles last year. After a lengthy wait, it has now been released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The middle ages have never looked so good I am never really sure about the survival RPG genre, I think this is in part to not having enough time to get heavily into them. I love the concept and always plan to spend time, and inevitably restart due to time away. However, everything that I had seen about Medieval Dynasty had me intrigued would this be the game to break that cycle for me? Read on and find out how I got on playing on the PlayStation 5. Gameplay Medieval Dynasty casts you in the role of Racimir, a young man fleeing...
