Global Rescue – PC Review

If you have ever sat in traffic on a local road thinking, "I could run this town better if they just gave me a blue light and a siren button," then developers PeDePe GbR have heard your prayers. Global Rescue is the latest "save the world from your swivel chair" simulator to hit the PC, and it is a weirdly personal journey into the heart of emergency management. Thunderbird Two to Thunderbird One, do you read me? Most games of this category tuck you away in a fictional metropolis like "Night City" or "Liberty City." But PeDePe GbR, the mad geniuses behind City Bus Manager, decided that was not enough. They wanted us to suffer, or thrive, in our own backyards. Naturally, I did not pick London or New York. I picked my old hometown of Folkestone. Why manage the NYPD when you can manage the ...

Windrose – PC Early Access Review

Windrose brings me the same joy as Assassin’s Creed Black Flag did all those years ago, even if it isn’t as polished. Developer Kraken Express may be new to the scene, but it entered with a bang. Windrose is an ambitious open-world game that lets players become pirates to craft their own story. Available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, the game is out in early access and is already making waves. Treasure Awaits! For some reason, nailing a good pirate-themed game is much easier than it looks. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag made the genre look so easy, having players sail the seas in search of treasure, all the while singing sea shanties and sinking enemy ships. It’s also more than a decade old, and the only other large title to try its hand at making players pirates is Sea of Th...

The Last Gas Station – PC Review

The Last Gas Station is a cosy game that says it has a little bit of a dark twist. Which is exactly what I love! The game itself is developed and self-published by Alawar. We will be running and restoring a run-down gas station, all while playing a cute red panda. If your curious about the game, then it is out now on Steam for £12.99 Nothing ever bad happens in the country. Gameplay In The Last Gas Station we assume the role of a Red Panda, who takes over management of a gas station. Not much is known about our character as most of the game focuses on running the place, but some strange things do occur in the night. At the start players will man the basic gas pump and restock some shelves with products. All of which are purchased at the computer in the back of the station. After savin...

Blades, Bows and Magic – PC Review

Blades, Bows and Magic, developed and published by Funk Games, arrives on Steam with a smart little pitch. It takes the card battler formula, strips away most of the clutter, and builds the whole thing around placement, abilities, and a rock-paper-scissors core. Warriors beat Archers, Archers beat Mages, Mages beat Warriors. Simple. Clean. Easy. That approach gives it an immediate charm, especially if you do not fancy wrestling with a hundred systems before the first fight. Nevertheless, that simplicity creates its own friction. Blades, Bows and Magic often let you understand exactly what should happen, but they do not always let you make it happen. The result is a card battler that feels approachable and lively, but also more random than strategic as the novelty wears off. Blades, Bow...

Hacked: The Streamer Review

As a resident zoomer, live streams hold a long shadow over my leisure time. I’ve spent days of my life in chatrooms, posting laughing emojis as white men twice my age play games meant for children. So when I saw a mystery game themed around the streams I love so much, I had to give it a click. Hacked: The Streamer is an FMV interactive film developed by Button Interactive and NAISU, and published by GameDev.ist and Gamersky Studios. After three years of development, it was released on Steam on April 6 of this year. Was it worth the wait? TCulture22 Donated $10: “dude show the review LULW” In Hacked: The Streamer, you play as internet streamer PinkyPie, whose routine stream is turned upside down when a hacker threatens to expose compromising photos of her unless she pays $50,000. T...

Sintopia – PC Review

A new management sim hits the Steam store, and this time we will be punishing the damned in Sintopia. Where we take the role of overlooking the hellish realm for the big man himself. The game is out now on Steam for £29.99, with also a Deluxe Edition, that nets you the soundtrack and art book. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Gameplay Sintopia splits has the player watching over two domains, the Overworld where the denizens called Humus live. And the Underworld, where you will punish -  or, well, reform them -  into better people. There is a story mode that will take you step by step on how to build an efficient hell. Players will get buildings that aid in dealing with one of the seven deadly sins. Most of your efficiency will be based on the roads and paths you create, since si...

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire – PC Review

MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, has been on my radar for a good while, and that is mainly due to my love for both Rubber Hose animation and classic 90s style FPS games. The game is out now on Steam for £24.99, with some extra goodies like, the soundtrack and comic being available. Only cheese taste better when you leave it, not crime. Gameplay Time to hit the streets as Mousebergs very on Jack Pepper, a P.I. whose only fun comes from cracking heads or cracking cases. MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, drops us straight into a case, and quickly gives us the rundown of the controls through a mid-case mission. Afterwards we move onto Jack's next case. Players will go through several cases, but the game itself will have an over arching story as well. For the game-play, it is heavily inspired by classic shooters...

KuloNiku: Bowl Up! PC Review

KuloNiku: Bowl Up! is Casual, Indie, Simulator from the same minds from Knight vs Giants, Gambir Studio. With the well known publisher Raw Fury. The same company that helped release Two Crowns, one very addictive game that I have over 100 hours in. KuloNiku is honestly inspiring me to make some interesting and tasty dishes. Yet, I've been really curious about the meatballs recipe that grandma made for the Protag to use. Now, let's get ready to chop some chilis, add some meatballs and start this review. Who comes into a ramen to ask for no soup in there ramen?! There's an Olive Oil Greenhouse down the road! Order up! KuloNiku: Bowl Up! has us starting by choosing the name and gender of the Protag. (Who I picked as my partner Yami) Which afterwards we discover that us with our close ...

Poppy Playtime: The Story So Far – PC Review

As horror boomed on Youtube, I was always a Five Nights At Freddy's gal. As a result of that, I've never played any of the Poppy Playtime games. With the release of chapter 5 back in February, I was lucky enough to be play all five chapters back to back. Does Poppy Playtime deserve the hype that it gets? Is it all a big marketing ploy to get you to buy some cuddly toys? I've spent many, many nights playing through to find out whether you need to add this Mob Entertainment franchise to your library. 15 plus hours of sadness, torture, death and running... no hour of joy to be found.   A Brief Overview... Each chapter of Poppy Playtime plays into one interconnected story. However, the game introduces new characters, gameplay mechanics and more with each chapter. I have played ...
