Adelaide-based indie developer Andrew Bray has announced his debut title VAGRIENT will be launching on Steam in Q1 2025. And yes it does involve a vagrant alien!
Set in a science fiction universe VAGRIENT is a top-down open word 2D action adventure. Playing as the titular character himself, players find themselves separated from their clan during a pivotal war. Stuck in another solar system you must find a way home. Your only hope? Restoring power to the corrupted warp gate!
Homeward bound
In order to get back to your home planet, players must explore a vast solar system in the hope of finding that which you desire. And what is it that you desire? An extremely rare energy source that powers the solar system’s warp gates. The journey won’t be easy; Vagrient will encounter hostile alien lifeforms and all manner of dangerous entities, but returning home is your priority.
Vagrient isn’t defenceless, though. The health and energy systems are combined into one. Causing players to carefully consider their actions in both combat and puzzle-solving situations. As you progress, you’ll unlock new skills that rely on your energy and gain permanent upgrades. Throughout the universe, relics can be discovered and utilized to enhance Vagrient’s skills.
