It appears the wait is almost over for the Hollow Knight community, as developer Team Cherry finally break their social media silence to tease an announcement for the game’s upcoming sequel. Or maybe it’s a prequel? We’ll find out soon!
It Is Time
With Gamescom kicking off tonight — Opening Night Live begins at 7pm BST — and Hollow Knight: Silksong being playable on the show floor at both Xbox and Nintendo booths, it seems Team Cherry had one more announcement up their sleeve before the big event. At roughly 15:30 BST, they announced a 48-hour countdown via various social media channels and their blog. Bear in mind, the last time a blog post was made on their website was 13th December 2019… almost 6 years ago! Did they forget their password?
Fans had been speculating since the Gamescom demo announcements about how long it would be until official word from Team Cherry regarding the release. It’s been a time of anxiety for many, given the obvious risk of early game info and spoilers being posted online in the next few days, resulting from the new public demo. However, it seems we won’t have to wait long until we get concrete details on the release. A video is set to premier on Team Cherry’s YouTube channel at 15:30 BST on 21st August. Set your alarms, book out your work calendars, please turn all mobile phones to silent and observer the fasten seatbelts sign.
It would be crazy to question whether we’ll get a release date in the upcoming video. The real question is what else might be included? Physical versions? Collector’s editions? Hornet and Lace body pillows? Whatever they show, I can’t wait to get my grubby paws on the game finally. Although the announcement could have come prior to my 3 weeks of leave from work, rather than on the day I went back…
Eyes Open On Thursday
I’ll be tuned in on Thursday and ready to report back in detail following the premier. Here’s a link to the video so you can pre-save, get your notifications set up and be ready to go. Check out the initial trailer for Hollow Knight: Silksong below, in case you’ve not watched it a thousand times yet. In the meantime, have a look at my other anticipated games here.
